Comments (3)Hi, thanks for your reply. The only problem is that the mirror was measured with the scribe, so it won't be flush now. The scribe is 1/4 inch, so there will be 1/8 inch gap on each side. Would that be noticeable? Maybe we could just caulk where the cabinet doesn't meet the back wall flush and just put mirror up without scribe. What do you think about that small gap on each side?...See MoreKitchen cabinets as bathroom vanities?
Comments (25)You don't want the 24" cabinets. Recently we stayed in a rental condo, and the first part of the week I kept thinking -- not really studying on it -- something's odd about this bathroom sink. I found it a bit uncomfortable. I felt too far from the mirror, and at first I thought it was a trick of the lighting ... I blamed it on the lack of natural light /sconce lights above the mirror instead of beside it ... but after a couple days I actually stopped and LOOKED at the details of the bathroom, and I realized that the vanity was deeper than ours at home (which is standard). I decided I didn't like it: I'm very short, and I didn't particularly like the extra space between me and the sink ... and the extra space between me and the mirror. If I had this 24" deep cabinet all the time, would I become used to it? Maybe. But most of us value floor space more than deep counter tops /deep drawers in the bathroom. On the other hand, if you could have kitchen cabinets that're more narrow, no problem....See Morebathroom cabinets above countertop
Comments (7)I know this post is already 6 months old. But we actually put an open shelf cabinet in a small master bathroom several years ago (maybe 2012?) I don't remember the exact dimensions but we probably hung the cabinet about 12" above the countertop (gave us more space on the counter and kept the cabinet from getting wet.) Most likely 18-24" wide, 12" deep and about 36" tall since it has 3 shelves (Kraftmaid.) Nice thing about having the sides is it prevents things from spilling over. We did have to fold the towels lengthwise in 3 before rolling up to make sure it didn't overhang the shelves....See MoreUser
