Trying to hide my waterfall

Liz Margoshes

I have a little pond and I want to hide its (smallest size Atlantic Biofalls?) filter. So I need to put it
back from the edge of the pond to give me the room I need to place
rocks in front of it. However, when I put it back enough to hide it with
rocks in front of, it, the water spills onto the ground before it reaches the pond! (of COURSE it does -- because the lip of the filter is not all that long (does this make sense?)).Here is my thought: to elongate the "lip" by attaching (via
water-seal epoxy, Gorilla Glue, or hydraulic cement) a piece of slate
that is the same width as the lip of the filter but MUCH LONGER, like
about 8 inches -- so that I can put the filter far back enough to put
rocks in front of it, while still having enough "length of lip" so that
the water will fall INTO the pond. I would also have to glue rocks onto the two sides of the slate "lip" so that the water won't fall off the sides.

Does this make sense? What do you all do to hide your filters including the FRONT of the filter?

NOTE:
I've been struggling and futzing with this little pond for the last 18
years and have never gotten it where I want it. The best I've done is
place the filter at such an acute angle downward so that the water does
fall into the pond, but then the lip is so LOW that the water doesn't
have that far to go and therefore my waterfall is kind of pathetic!I
am now seeking a bit more WATERFALL DRAMA, desiring my filter to sit vertically and the water to fall
from a greater height -- but then, of course, you SEE the front of the
waterfall and it must be hidden.

Is my basic problem that I never surrounded my filter with pond liner?? The liner only goes around the pond and onto the surrounded dirt maybe 8". Then the waterfall/filter just sits on the dirt, surrounded by rocks.

Thanks for any suggestions!
