Some time lapse photos
I was looking through some my citrus photos today. I didn't find what I was looking for but I was floored by how much some of my trees have grown and how photos help us see that our trees really are growing even if it seems like a snail's pace for some of them.
The "taken on" date really helps find out when trees were planted and how old they are now.
Here is one that struck me....I posted it some years back for some reason and added an arrow showing a very young kumquat tree. Closer in the foreground are two newly planted Satsuma oranges. All of the broken limbs on trees in the background and all the branches on the ground are debris from Hurricane Rita that came through my county in 2005 when the photo was taken.
Here is another photo from about the same angle taken in 2014. The little kumquat is now obscured by the two Satsumas in the foreground. I have also completely remodeled my house and added a big garage in the foreground.
I will try to add a current photo from the same spot. The two Satsumas have grown a LOT since this photo was taken.
I will try to edit this post and add the recent photo below.
Here is another photo set that makes me wonder how this tree will look in another few years. This is a tangerine I planted in a raised bed. In background left, there is a newly planted Ponderosa lemon.

Photo Galleries Have Been Moved Against our Will
Comments (27)Good discussion here and many valid points. I think much of this comes down to consideration of others. I could easily post twenty times a day asking various questions, showing time-lapse photos of cultivars, posting question threads, photos, etc. but I don't. I am aware that I am not the only person on the planet that matters and that posting too many photos becomes overwhelming and distracting to others. When it does become a bit of an unintentional problem is when there are 20 galleries that are spread out over several weeks/months that get bumped by 3-4 photos, then another user bumpers 2-3 galleries, etc. and all of the sudden the top 8 posts are galleries - even if they are created by different forum users and bumped by seperate people as well. As I've said before, from my end, I'll still post some photos from time to time, for sure some time-lapse photo series and make contributions/questions, but as to making/contributing to galleries that are going to get lost in the gallery section with one response, oblivious to most, I'm not going to waste my time. Comments (7)Kay,Blackie stays close to me when I am outside,and I really have to watch where my feet are going,as she will walk a few steps in front of me,and suddenly just lay down right in front of my feet,wanting my attention.She the cat that came here about 7 -8 years ago,so skinny and starving, and I went in the house to see what I could find her to eat, and I gave her some sliced ham.I didnt have cat food.She decided to stay and make this her home, so after she had some kittens,I had her fixed.I have one of her babies in the house,its the one that got hit by a car and lost a hind leg.I tell you what tho, that cat can move with 3 legs. Comments (1)Hi Lizzie, hope my response is not too late! My construction project started 3 weeks ago, and I installed 2 Brinnos (1 in the front and 1 at the back of the building). Quite easy to use once you get the hang of it. Amazon sells it. Search for "Brinno BCC200". And an update on the Tangerine in the planter
I have let peppermint go wild. Doesn't seem to be bothering the tangerine. There are also a couple of Japanese plums that came up from seeds I dumped in with other compost. I plan to transplant them out.
Looks like I'm going to get lots of tangerines this year. It's loaded with tiny fruit.John 9a

6 years agoSteve, yes, the kumquat is doing fine. I have three, all Meiwas. The one in this photo is the oldest, about 12 years old. The fruit on it have always tasted the sweetest, The fruit on the other two trees tend to be larger but not as sweet.
Just the top as that was what interested me at the time I took the photo :>)
It's still has fruit from this past year and is now putting out new growth.

6 years agoI like this idea John, I always tell folks on here to take a lot of photos of your trees as they grow. It's amazing to see how much yours have grown over the years. I'm going to tack onto your thread with my progression pics for my Meyer Lemon that I planted early last year, hope you don't mind if I jump into the thread.
