Lunch and shopping on a hot day!
Comments (18)I'm glad all of you enjoyed the pictures and felt like you sort of got to come along with us. Trust me, you are always along on any shopping excursions--find myself constantly saying "Oh,so and so would really like this" or "Isn't this like what so and so collects?", etc. I do have to exercise restraint when I go on these shopping excursions. I see so darn many things that I like, but my little house is nearly bursting at the seams already and no matter how cute, I just really don't need much more! Also, my neighbor/friend and I had hit her favorite TS in a nearby town this week too. Here's pics of my finds that day, along with the little Campbell's soup mugs I got while with OA yesterday. My newest neighbor/friend has MS and just recently had to get leg braces. She is redoing her kitchen and has been looking for Campbell's soup kids items, so I was excited to find these things to gift to her and hopefully brighten her day. ;o) Punk, my gift from OA is wonderful--it is used in the top of a candle to cut out the hole so you can sit a votive inside. Can't wait to use it on my Fall and Christmas candles this year. Magpie, Upland used to be a fantastic place to find unique stores and antique/collectibles shops. Unfortunately, the economy hasn't been too good to those types of stores and many have gone out--only five or six left there now. Janet, I've visited the mountains of N.C., and loved it there as well as the outer banks too. We have family in the Raleigh area so will most likely head the motor home that way again one of these years. Both OA and I said we hate having our pictures taken, but we agreed to do it in spite of knowing we looked hot and wind blown, just for all you gals here. Jeanne, you're a sweetie, but trust me, we're NOT too young to be retired! LOL Here's my "treasures" for this week: These are for my neighbor/friend. There are two of the mugs. This little wooden bread box will get a coat of white paint and be used on my kitchen counter to hide some of the vitamins and medicine bottles. I hate having them in site. The spice bottles revolve and will be great for glitters, buttons, or whatever in my craft room. This little snowman plate was just too cute to leave on the shelf. I love snowmen, but I actually thought of Miss Karen when I saw this because of the cardinals....See MoreUpdate on soft diet lunches
Comments (2)I read your original request but didn't contribute anything, because my only experience with catering to soft-diet needs was a cat with a broken jaw, and I didn't think the requirements were all that similar. ;o) It makes me so happy to read that you got such good suggestions, though. The power of the Internet is an amazing thing, and sometimes it can change people's lives in ways we can hardly imagine....See MoreOK, I went, I'm home, and lunch was good.
Comments (32)I still have hope he will call again. There is someone out there for you!! I mean I got Tony at Walmart. I was a vendor and he would bring my boxes of heavy books out for me. At first I thought he was one of the "special" people that Walmart sometimes hire. When he would bring my books out he would be red faced and didn't say a word, just sorta grinned at me. His mom dressed him funny. A group of Walmart employees started going out to lunch and they included me. Pretty soon Tony started coming along. My DB was playing at a club downtown & I invited all of the "gang" down. Guess who showed up? I was pretty drunk when he got there. Hey my parent were there I had a ride home & a Mom that wouldn't let me get out of line. Anyhooo Tony drove me home in his brand new mustang. After a couple of beers he started talking to me. We sat in front of my parents house talking. I realized he was very smart, just painfully shy. Like I said I was 3 sheets to the wind, and I kissed him. Well let me tell you my eyeballs changed sockets, my toes curled, and I saw fireworks. I just "knew" that he was the one. We started dating in December & married in May 23.5 years ago. And I love him more each day. So don't judge a book by its cover...and if you get married I want to be a bridesmaid!!! lol...See MoreLast minute lunch for four on an 88 degree day
Comments (28)Thanks Funky. Dinner was excellent, if I do say so myself. My fruit source had delicious cantaloupe (cut, so I could taste it). So I did cantaloupe and proscuitto. I also scored fresh made whole milk ricotta, so I did that instead of pea puree. When we were in Italy this one hotel buffet had fresh ricotta, italian bread, cantaloupe and salami on the buffet every morning and I loved the combo, so the Crostini with Ricotta and Honey with the wrapped melon was an homage to that. I also served my gazpacho shooters and I made a new Sangria with Rum ... yum! I grilled a butterflied leg of Marinated Lamb and served it with pita pockets that I browned and warmed in a little butter first (kept extras in the warming drawer). I served it with homemade Tzatziki, feta, baby lettuces, and Red Onion Marmalade. I made couscous with oil and vinegar, cinnamon, turmeric, salt and pepper, with finely diced cuke and red pepper, raisins, toasted almonds and parsley. Then for dessert, once again i did the Lemon Pistachio Ice Cream Sandwiches. Was it CindyMac who first posted those? They are a big hit every time, and so easy! A BIG thank you to whoever posted them! We had such a nice night and our guests had seconds on everything and really enjoyed it. DH and I spent the day cooking so it was fun. They brought a perfect hostess gifts, two books ... one of them a cookbook she authored. Oly, It turned out that we took the risk of cooking it while they were here and we were having appetizers. I usually like everything done ahead of time but I wanted it to marinate more. But, I have leftovers so I will def try your method! We like our meat rare so reheating can be tricky. Thank you for that tip! Linelle, oh my, removing the skins? Can you blanche them to make it easier. Sounds like a PITA, pun intended. ps here was my DR table...See More- 9 years agolast modified: 9 years ago
