Mindy, I grew up calling them and knowing them as curly lilies, but I believe it's only a central V.I. nickname for them. Down island they're called trout lilies. Erythroniums grow wild in many areas on the island. When we lived on a small acreage in Saanich (south V.I.) we had many rock outcroppings covered with Erythroniums, literally 100's of them, it was a beautiful sight. Annette

Thank you for this post! I only keep one of my ponds going thru the winter, and I'm running out of room on the bottom (so many nice lilies to pick from!). This year I'm gonna leave the iris and pickeral hanging on the sides, they'll be ice covered from December to at least March, but probably not frozen solid. What do I do with my watercress? It's bare root in the skippy now, but the skippy will soon get drained. Float it or sink it in the pond? S (One word of caution - not all plants are what they are said to be. Mushrooms like rich soil, and somewhat damp soil. I am currently growing them in a big cardboard box from a kit. Since January I have been harvesting mushrooms about once a week. Once they get over the size of a dime in diameter, it takes only a day or two longer for them to reach 2 inches in diameter. Mine are a common white mushroom, but the jumbo size for stuffing. Right now, the yield has greatly deminished and I just get may one or two per week. Soon the whole setup will ge dumped into my compost pile, as its mostly exhausted. Mushrooms are usually a healthy thing, but it may also be from a bit too much moisture in the soil for them to sprout from a green growing plant medium.

No. Just pull out from where you don't want. The term invasive is supposed to refer to a plant that is not native to your area. Not knowing which of the hundreds of violets you have the term weedy is probably more correct. I love violets and have several different types.
