Big :) :D Thank you. They are a sweet bell pepper - I am not sure what variety beyond that. I bought a bunch of 10 cent seed packets last year, and they were all from American Seed company - so these peppers might be "California Wonder." The description fits with the plants' growth habits as described on the American Seed company website. This has been a great year for peppers here. I am not sure why. I have not had this luck with them before - and so it is either just a good year, or my soil is finally built up enough to support good growth. I have 6 anaheim chili peppers in my other pepper bed, and I noticed 9 peppers on one of those 6 plants today.... and more flowers coming along - so we will have more anaheims than we know what to do with! Although most will be made into chili rellenos....... Are you in Utah, deedee? We have relatives in Utah. Although the seasons are a little more extreme than here in coastal southern california, I am sure you'll be able to grow a great garden there. Pleasant gardening - Patty

I am trying to make "hoop houses " over each bed,...but its slow going with over 20 plus raised beds. using 2by 4 wire fencing...and others are using 4by 6 opening fencing attaching it to various size boards.. most of my raised beds are 4 by 4 in size but quite a few are close to 4 by 8 foot..... s lots to do. reason for hoops is to try to keep out insects, etc covering hoops with row cover or tulle etc......plus having cattle panels around giant garden with poultry wire ...wired to cattle panels thought fence would keep out the rabbits . I did not consider outdoor only Kitty would be using them for extra litter boxes... Cat has several acres for his big litter box... Plus covering walk path with cardboard the mulch or deep old straw Only reason for cat.... is to keep away the horrendous number mice that plagued us for over a year.... and he catches lots of voles too.... just chiming in Jean

Oh, sorry, I didn't mean they were hunting, they were just gliding around in circles, very, very high, from what I have read, this is common behavior for red-tailed hawks around this time of year and has something to do with mating. I was able to get a good look with my binoculars and they were definitely hawks. They have been doing this lately, more so on sunny days, usually at least two, sometimes more, but that day there were more of them than I have ever seen! Very pretty!

How about a plain ole mole? They are stubby sometimes grey although usually more brown, have the big digging paws in front making them do a funny little shuffle when walking-at least when walking on my hardwood floors! They get in by accident 1 or 2 times a year & have trouble finding their way out so I don my leather fireplace gloves & grab the mole just behind his head-where a neck would be if they had one!
