Comments (3)the thing is i have a plan to include several flowering shubs in the old strip.then have the area just under the decking up to about a third of the garden as a big summer flowerbed.I also want to include a sizeable pond about halfway down there and also have a thaliciforum and lilac bed at the bottom. If i were to remove the hedge and replace it with a wooden slat fence similar to the one you can see just past the resovoir tank along where the hedge is it can give me a little bit more extra space especially for the pond(i also want to get a slightly larger shed) and have climbing plants and other small flowering shrubs. Also i more easily put down electronic fencing along that side of the garden and im hoping to get a largeish dog Il talk to my neighbour by springtime as to sorting it out How much could removing it cost(estimate) and how long would it take? Comments (22)my quandary was.. and always will be... how do you know which ones to cut off ... what if you cut off the only ones that will end up viable ... and the rest die ... and on that basis ... i was usually paralyzed into taking no action ... until i was convinced the plant was fully re established ... and it really didnt matter ... i fully expect some serious problems with die back ... and browning .. transplant damage ..... etc ... and you should too ... dont go all ballistic with what you see in spring .. or summer next year ... it will just be the evolution of what you did to it ... and it wasnt done by peeps with experience ... complete proper... deep watering.. and near drying in between such ..... will be the key ... see link above ... for two or three years ... if you save and regrow the roots ... the plant will survive ... and to be sure.. there will be odds... that it will end up looking like something completely different.. so be it ... if you have questions and concerns next year.. we will need pix ... ken...See MoreDog chewed tree I planted, help!
Comments (6)Thank y'all so much. I was hoping that was the case with the graft. Tomato cages are a great idea, I have a few laying around I will try. Neighbor and I are good buddies. So good in fact that the first thing I did when this happened is threaten to choke slam his dog. We discussed keeping the dog up when no one is watching him. He then offered to pay for another tree, but I declined because I know he's just a puppy, and needs to be taught not to do this sort of thing. I hadn't thought about the ties and the bamboo. Will get that done day after tomorrow (80 mph wind gusts forecast tomorrow =D )...See MoreTreating trees chewed by puppy
Comments (7)What is he chewing on the trees......the bark? Or are these small trees that he mistakes for twigs? She should redirect him with a large, fresh bone from the butcher and supervise him more when he's outdoors. Other option, wrap some wire mesh around each tree until he outgrows the chewing stage, or is adopted. Spraying the trees won't accomplish much....See Moregardengal48 (PNW Z8/9)
