Why isn't my red thread below working on GW?!
Comments (4)I posted some photos two days ago but the link went to an error page, and later, the post disappeared. I think they were having problems over the weekend (but a similar link worked fine on the Garden Photo Gallery so maybe it was just the Cottage Garden forum)....See MoreWhy isn't my orange tree growing?
Comments (17)You will have to keep it inside if your winters are cold. Citrus will die in freezing weather. I live where big commercial citrus orchards grow, but they do have turbines in the orchards, and you can hear those things miles away when a freeze hits. They are LOUD! But this is Southern California, and these trees are in ground. Mine are all outside in ground. We are in a microclimate, so the clouds generate snow now and then, and it drops, but it's too warm here for the snow to stick. The citrus are fine here outside. You MUST keep your plant inside. I'd harvest those oranges now and have fresh orange juice for breakfast. That will give the tree more energy to just grow....See MoreWhy isn't my "Sun King" Aralia growing?
Comments (16)I should add that I really worked on having beautiful soil when it was planted. The bed was new and the soil that was there was basically builders junk from almost 30 years ago with that many years of whatever happened to decompose on it, which wasn't very much at all. I added high quality compost (I compared the analysis sheets of the compost near me and chose the one with the highest nutrients) and peat to the soil, making it nice and fluffy for root growth. It's possible those additions helped my plant along. I have three other aralias, all bought late last summer, and they are about the same, all in good soil. Maybe it was their size at the time of purchase. The only place that had them at that time was a froufrou nursery for the more...blessed...among us. They were in pretty big pots, definitely bigger than the standard gallon pot. They were roughly 3 feet when purchased. Could that be it, as well?...See MoreGW support: Why isn't my "like button" working for me?
Comments (21)Isn't it stupid that we have to consistently do a song and dance to try to get things to work properly here? When I had trouble with my thread not posting recently, I messaged Houzz Support and DAYS after my thread(s) appeared, Support emailed me to say they were visible. Well, no duh. When I replied to say that yes, I know... they finally appeared but it took a few days and others experienced the same thing, I received another response advising me that they were constantly making improvements to enhance our experience. I sprained my eyeballs rolling them....See Morebiondanonima (Zone 7a Hudson Valley)
