Patience. It won't bear new fruit until it blooms again. It likely won't bloom again until late winter. It looks pretty good otherwise. You are keeping it outdoors during mild weather I hope.

You have to harvest the oranges or it will skip a year. But agree it should go outside in spring through summer in full sun. It will flower in spring, but it will need bees to pollinate it. Inside. It's just a house plant.

Yes. If the fruit wasn't so big id say remove it but at this point "the damage has already been done" so just leave them.

Citrus is parthenogenic, no need for pollination.

You will have to keep it inside if your winters are cold. Citrus will die in freezing weather. I live where big commercial citrus orchards grow, but they do have turbines in the orchards, and you can hear those things miles away when a freeze hits. They are LOUD! But this is Southern California, and these trees are in ground.

Mine are all outside in ground. We are in a microclimate, so the clouds generate snow now and then, and it drops, but it's too warm here for the snow to stick. The citrus are fine here outside.

You MUST keep your plant inside. I'd harvest those oranges now and have fresh orange juice for breakfast. That will give the tree more energy to just grow.

You keep telling him to harvest, it's early September what exactly makes you think they are even mature? Size? Color? Both can be deceiving.

pip, he bought the tree loaded with oranges. Oranges, lemons, and most citrus harvest in late winter and spring. The oranges are orange! Ready to harvest. He lets it go another year, the tree won't blossom. Still has a crop going. No need for another.

Pip, the oranges have always been this size, ever since I bought the tree. The only thing that changed is that they got a bit more orange-y. I don't know whether these are full size already?

They are long overdue, regardless of variety. If they have an off taste then it's from hanging too long on the tree

Citrus grown in a green house will often show up for sale with fruit on it completely out of season. Many of the trees in the nurseries have had mature fruit on them since July, even though they are not supposed to ripen until November. It only happens that first year. That tree has oranges on it because it has no idea what time of year it is. They look ripe to me, pick them. Get it bigger pot, bring it outside right after the last freeze in spring and bring it in right before the first the following fall. (Be careful here, one freeze can kill it.) Put it in a south facing room and leave the drapes open all the time in winter, these trees require full direct sunlight.
