Bought 3 anthracite Silgranite sinks off Craigslist. Each brand new and for less than half the normal retail price. Found my kitchen sink on my local (Austin) craigslist and the two prep sinks (one for the TV room and one for the butler's pantry) off the Atlanta craigslist. A friend in Atlanta actually went and made the purchase for me and then held the sink till I could get out to visit her and pick them up. I've discovered that if you are looking for a pretty specific item, it isn't necessary to individually search every city's craigslist. Instead, try googling craigslist plus terms describing what you want. So, for example, I googled "craigslist anthracite silgranit sink" one day and bam, there they were, newly posted in Atlanta. Of course, if you want to buy from a non-local craigslist, it helps to have friends scattered all over the US that you can talk into meeting the seller and checking the item out for you!

Hi Mastiffmom_85! The canisters came from the Chef's Catalog. I just popped by their site, see the link below, and it's looks like they are out of the "flour" one. They are pretty much air tight, one is a little loose, but I've never had a problem with the sugar I put in it and I live in a humid climate and keep my windows open A LOT in the summer. They are wonderful about keeping my brown sugar from turning into a rock too, but it's the white sugar one with the more loose lid. This one is $10 mil here in Austin. I have actually been in it many times since a friend of my daughter's live(d) there-she is in college now. The first time my daughter went there, she was so excited about the Chuck Close painting because he is her favorite artist! Her parents divorced a few years ago, dad kept the house and mom moved to another home in the same neighborhood. I don't think the pics do it justice-the views are amazing, they own lots of acreage around it, very private. I never really liked the furniture, though. Anyway, the owner is Steven Dell (the famous eye surgeon and brother of Michael who founded Dell Computer). He is not a nice person, had multiple affairs during the marriage and never seemed very interested in his kids. Sad because they have four kids. I wonder if he'll ever really sell it. I have black walnut from Craft-Art. I love it! I've had it installed for two years now and I'm 100% satisfied with my choice. We bought two slabs and the island was DIY by my DH and I. We used Waterlox regular to finish, so it does give it an amber tone and a gloss finish. Oiling would change the look, as well as a matte finish. Here is a shot of my wood the day it was delivered, and after it was finished and installed I love the grain and variance of color.
