Laurie, just a note. At a recent symposium I was told that single blooms don't have thrips. The 'expert' said that the thrips didn't have a place to hide. Monsieur Tillier is a great tea of a darker pink and has never had thrips damage. The polyantha Marie Daly is a great rose and is about 4 1/2 feet tall in its third year and will get larger if I let it. Lafter, Radiance and Red Radiance are older hybrid teas that are extremely disease resistant and drought tolerant for me but will get 9 feet tall if you let them. I imagine they could be kept much shorter if you wanted. I've never noticed thrips on these and they're all very fragrant. Hamp

What a waste of space and money! I’d pull everything out and start over. Larger fridge freezer area with full depth over fridge cab the whole width/depth fitted with full extension pullouts and cutting board/tray storage.

What do you need to store? That would help determine what type of piece you could add. Adding two more panels to each window would be a good idea. They aren't quite full enough as is. Think of it as a functional space, not just a space for accessories. Large bowls are a good idea, or pitchers. Anything fairly large that you use and can easily pull out when needed. You could also look for baskets that fit the shelves so you could use it for smaller items like placements and napkins.
