Chris, What you are looking does exist. The ones I have used have a limit of 5 amps but usually will run the coil of a control relay thru the switch and than I can shut off 20 amps at 220 volts or run it to more relays and have unlimited power shutoff. An electrican friend of mine have gotten them for me and I don't remember the brand or name on them. They are not Little Giant shutoffs as I use about twenty of thus a year and they will not do what you want. These are about 2" long and about a half inch high and wide with two wire contacts in the bottom. When water comes in contact with them they can either turn something on or turn it off. Mike

kitchenredo2 - Thanks for posting so many options, plus the one at Home Depot. I've been looking into these since my 2nd story washer leaked (came new with a sliced drain hose). I have found tons of options online, but nothing at Lowes, HD and Menards. Your link shows that they actually do carry them at my local HD. I will definitely buy one for my dryer pan and try it out. Where would you all put them in your kitchen - under the sink, near the frig? I asked my plumber and several Sears repair tech's if they could recommend any of the brands, but no one was actually aware of the differences or had worked with one. Love to hear from anyone who's used one.

I had a job where I couldn't get the "as built" drawings and told the GC I would start to disassemble by the hour. I got the job. I'd say the same to you.
