decor for my fall party last night..yes I used some junk
Comments (11)Pattico, I vote to keep it up and use it for seasonal displays. It sure made a great backdrop for the photos. Send updated pics. Thanks for sharing. I have some old weathered picket fencing that I use for my flower bed. I have more and I think I am going to copy your idea.LOL Pat P...See MoreGuess, what trouble I got myself into last night
Comments (14)Lumpy, you are right. The pink one in the back is Encyclia Cordigera. The tag says it smell like chocolate... I love chocolate scent! The Catt. in front is polka dot " Nalo". It is fragrant too. In this group, only the Dancing Lady " Sweet Ears" does not have scent. but it has pretty flowers... Majority of them have very healthy roots, only couple that start to have root rot issue. In general, these orchid are in much better/healthier condition than most moth orchids I have seen at Lowe's My guess is that these are U.S grow orchids, not like other orchids which may be shipped from overseas. I just repotted them with much fast drain orchid mix. Pray they'll survive. Sunshine, now you've mentioned it, I recall that I have never seen Lowe's carries B. nodosa and Maxillaria either till I bought them. All I've seen were the Catt. and Oncid. too just like what you've seen. Maybe these were in the back roll that I could have missed it. There is a very good orchid farm here, I usually get my orchids from them , not from Lowe's. I will browse for a bargain but will not seriously pay an orchid with full price at Lowe's. It may well be those Catt. and Oncid. etc. more showy flowers caught my eyes. Anyways, Lowe's must have had it somewhere. You might check your local Lowe's store again to see if you've missed them....See MoreI think I lost ALL my seedlings last night...
Comments (35)It's been below thirty in my yard for the past 10 days. I didn't have much that had sprouted earlier, which I was worrying about, but I did have 12 little bok choy sprouts. They are still out there, and today I have spinach sprouts. Every morning I expect to go out and see them dead. Today I decided to stop worrying about it and just fix it so I didn't have to do anything more for them. So I had some old windows and I put my containers up against the west facing foundation of the house and propped windows over them. The ends are open, but I thought it might just give them the little extra that might help through this cold spell. I actually had to water all the containers today because it was sunny and cold here yesterday. Looks like another week of this weather on the forecast and I've planted my peas early for the first time in years, of course. [g]...See MoreOkay so I bought a rug. At 1am last night.
Comments (62)Sorry to say I am not at all surprised by RH's duplicity in pretending they are selling one of a kind rugs (or one of a kind anything, for that matter), or their incompetence in tracking their stock, their fake shipping dates and timely charging of your credit card. The company is a complete fraud, from the ground up, IMO. Honest catalog retailers state their wares are "unique" because the item being described is hand made and therefore the one that arrives may not look like the picture. RH seems to play fast and loose with that concept as their ad copy makes you believe that a featured item is truly the ONLY one like it. I always wondered how they could spend so much money showcasing single run new items or one of a kind vintage or antique things. Now it appears they have revealed their true business model to you. I always thought their brand appealed to the yuppie worst in us all. I include myself in that, I'm sorry to say. I have purchased a curtain rod from RH about seven years ago and probably would have bought other things as well, but after receiving their massive catalog missives decided not to do business with them any more....See Morebev2009
