Male/Female Sea Buckthorn...can you tell?

Please confirm if I see it right...

It's been about 7 years from when I planted some seeds. Since I have one large older bush and ones in a while I see a couple of berries on it makes me believe this is a female and never gets pollinated. Got some suckers from this one and the largest one had lots of berries on which I think gets pollinated with one of my male seedlings very close by....basically just touching it. Older bush which is maybe 6 feet away still didn't have many berries. Today I observed them and looked closer to the buds.

The Female has these open further apart buds....

Male plant has these clusters with many bumps...

How is my assumption?

How close normally people plant the males to the female?
