Please help with cherry blossom tree
Comments (16)Hi there! Kwanzan flowering cherries are quite spectacular in full bloom! If I may recommend something rather drastic: You might have to re-plant the tree to another location--preferably one that is facing east. Should you decide to do this, it would be a good idea to inoculate the exposed roots with mycorrhizal fungi. The mycorrhizal fungi provide beneficial bacteria that increase the uptake of essential nutrients for the strengthening of the root system and the tree as a whole. I would first dip the exposed roots in the liquid form of the fungi and then just before covering the roots, rest at least four packets of the solid form of the fungi upon them. Garden Gro http://www.thegreengro.com/ sells the liquid form and Xtreme Gardening http://www.ebay.com/itm/Xtreme-Gardening-Mykos-10-gram-Root-Paks-20-ct-/150964902917?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0amp;hash=item2326359c05 sells the solid form of the fungi. Then again you might be placing too much stress on the tree by transplanting it. In that case, i recommend using the powdered or liquid form of the mycorrhizal fungi by green gro and inoculate the tree's roots simply by adding it to the top soil. Also, you might want to think about purchasing another variety of cherry blossom that is better suited to thrive in your climate zone. "Pink cloud" is a type of cherry blossom whose flowers are similar to that of the Kwanzan and seems to tolerate heat and humidity better than most flowering cherries. http://www.lecooke.com/cms/component/content/article/88-ask-the-grower/367-pink-cloud-flowering-cherries.html I truly hope this info helps. Comments (12)I use whatever is cheap and effective. I used a lot of Arm & Hammer liquid but lately wanted something a little better. Overall it was fine. Tried Great Value (WalMart brand) powder and was very impressed. Long time since I had used powders but this has enzymes and works very well. Tried Sun powder, and although it doesn't have enzymes, it works surprisingly well. I'll sometimes give it a boost with dishwasher detergent as I did with A&H. I used to use Wisk and it was probably about the best overall (that could have changed since though, but I don't know) but I haven't used it in a long time since the price became too much. Used ERA for a while and liked it, though not as well as Wisk. That's when I started using A&H. And there was also a store brand or two that I used with success that are no longer available. I seldom use softener anymore but when I do, it's vinegar in a Downey Ball. FWIW, I tried Tide but I itch from it. Very few brands make me itch, but Tide does it....See MoreLumpy or thick fabric softener - Downy
Comments (45)Liquid softener in a dispenser should always be diluted with water. I mix a little hot water into the amount of softener in the product cap. Note the measurement lines, I rarely use more than line 1. Swirl the cap or stir with a spoon or table knife, pour it into the dispenser, then add more hot water to top-off to the full capacity of the dispenser. Don't overfill the dispenser or the liquid level will overtop the siphon tube and it'll flow out immediately. Beyond diluting with water, dispensers are supposed to be cleaned of residue on a regular basis / as needed. That includes agitator-mounted dispensers on toploaders. Majority of them disassemble for cleaning, check the machine's user instructions....See MoreTarget Up & Up Spring Bloom Softener. Great find Mitch!
Comments (57)Hi all! Of course, every time get the chance I sniff all the "Downy"-like FS at the grocery store...yesterday I happened across a new generic or "store brand" - it's called "Simply Done" and the bottle is light blue with the hot pink cap. Scent is called "spring scent" - I think it's also a fairly good match for our old-school Downy, but in all fairness did wash the load first in Liquid Tide with AF Downy. Tonight I'll try a load with unscented soap. Would love it if someone else found it and tried it too - for comparison! The Target softener is also wonderful......See Morealways1stepbehind
