Please help with backsplash ideas, and sneak peak at new kitchen
Comments (29)I haven't seen that granite in person, but wow yours is so glossy and beautiful. Love the way it looks with your cabinets; the peninsula looks soooo pretty. Don't like the marble BS with your granite. Agree with palimpsest that the scale and pattern of the movement is too similar to that in your granite. They'll end up fighting rather than complementing each other. Of the glass I like the one in the middle. More neutral than the others and looks to go very well with the color of the floors. I don't think it's stark. The subway is a great shape that melds with the traditional ( transitional?) style of your cabs, but the glass has a modern feel and goes well with your fabulously glossly granite which is the star in that kitchen. Keep it simple. BTW, no matter what the backsplash or what the GC says, no No NO to the 4" granite BS! If you have more of the glass tile, yes please post a picture with several in place so we can see how it looks and please show us whatever else you find!...See MoreSneak peak @new kitchen- Can I get away with no backsplash?
Comments (30)I may just have to bust out the drywall mud and build up the area a bit. There's something very calming about the kitchen as-is. I don't know what it is, but it's soothing to walk into that room. I'm sure it would be nice with a backsplash, but I really don't know if I'd like it as much. The paint color is Benjamin Moore Twilight Gold #1069. (I used it throughout my personal house as well, and it's a *great* golden camel color that's a nice, deep color without going too dark.)...See MoreSneak Peak... New furniture is here!
Comments (76)Well, now that I'm a day late and a dollar short....read it all. Love furniture, fireplace not so much (get rid of that black scroll - it's too much for the brick) also all that brick is throwing me off. You had one idea with the wood surround on the brick, it was medium color wood and it softened the brick also with the mantel. Love 2nd picture for over mantel, very pretty. Love the lamps with some gold in them but not the shade, just doesn't go. The busy metals I would say is a no in the lamps, personally I am not fond of that look in there. Rug looks like a nice size, I think smaller isn't a good choice. I even like the colors, they are calm. It is a very comfortable room, may I come and sit a spell? Tables,I don't have a clue on them. You're coming along and I think it's good when you can look through other's eyes.....others pick up on things that you yourself never even thought of. I think we are very fortunate that we have so many wonderful designers here that give so willingly of their time to help out with ideas. I believe they get a round of applause....See MoreIn Progress:Sneak Peak of our white to dark remodel
Comments (7)Awwww, Ginger, thank you. You are very sweet. I just re-posted because the original was MIA for a while. That was a lot of work. Let me see: The cabinets were ordered online through Cabinet Giant in Kansas City, I think. The are cherry stained maple, solid wood, dovetailed full-extension drawers with soft close. They are RTA which sounds scary, but I'll tell you, aside from the lazy susan and the pantries, each cabinet took around 7 minutes to put together. The color is Brindleton Maple- the Reserve Line. The counter top is Corian Dusk (light speckled gray) the integrated sink is white. The floor below froggy is Brazilian Cherry Natural- not wood, but Mannington Revolutions Diamond Bay laminate. Thank you again for your kind words! My apologies to everyone for the double post. If you can tell me how to get rid of one, I will!...See Morelaughablemoments
