Looking forward to new David Austin's roses
Comments (24)What I like about Olivia Rose is : --she is very disease-resistant. Many of Austin's earlier pinks were not. --her blooms have a lovely shape and appealing pastel color and good fragrance--very different than many of the earlier short pinks which may have 1 or 2 of those traits, but often do not have all 3. --she is a smaller bush than many Austins--which is what I need since I am nearly out of space. Therefore, I think Olivia Rose fits in well with my needs and expectations. But until I get one and actually grow it in my garden, I'm not going to know for sure, am I! LOL. David Austin--get me my rose! Kate...See MoreAustin rose gallery of photos, Chelsea 2017
Comments (12)Diane...yes I liked the Tea table too, all those cakes... I think fragrancenutter is here on holiday right now... lucky with the weather too, it's quite nice at the moment, so I shall definitely look in on that thread, thanks for alerting me... Dave.... yes, I can't wait for James to start blooming here... I was impressed with the photos of it.. Patty... yes all our roses are grafted, we don't have own root roses, unless we import them.. I've never noticed rmv, but it may exist, I'm not sure about that... sometimes I see a bit of yellow mottling on some leaves, but not much... never quite sure what it is, perhaps some deficiency... I'm not sure The Queen is much into gardening, despite the impressions given... she's a horsey person, especially breeding and racing... that's her thing.. as it was with her mother... Glad you liked the pics... I must check out that thread today.....See More2018 David Austin Roses
Comments (6)I wonder if I was given the wrong name of Ispahan....that is a damask and not of DA breeding......maybe Imogen is what the girl I talked to meant to say - that would make more sense. The catalog doesn't come out til November. I live about 2 hours from Tyler and go by and pick my catalog up as soon as they get them in. Wish they would sell in the fall........would love to get these out before spring even though I pick my DA roses up in February....See MoreDame Judi Dench
Comments (22)Lovely, all of them! I had expected Dame Judi Dench to be more yellow, as jc shows in his last photos. I’m guessing she’s a rose that shows many different color tones, according to temps, soil, and location. Either way, she’s very pretty, and jc the bush photo from May 11 does indeed look very full, and healthy. I look forward to more pictures. Rose Lai, your Carding Mill is so much more color saturated than mine. My Carding Mill blooms are normally big, soft peach, globes. I happen to have a few in a small vase right now. I wonder why mine are so much lighter colored? The very yellow one is Molineux. Lisa...See MoreSarah z8
