You probably know then that there are many sinks with your requirements except that the offset drain is rear center, not rear side (Franke and Blanco make them). An offset drain that is rear center will still give you open cabinet space underneath the sink. However, if you absolutely want the drain to be rear side, and can't find exactly what you want in a stainless steel sink, you can do what I did which is to buy a custom made sink exactly to my specifications. You may find a local fabricator. If not, I used Hancrafted Metal in Texas, and am extremely happy with my sink. I have a 27" wide rectangular sink, 9" deep, with offset drain rear right. I was going to buy a Kraus stainless steel sink until I switched over to a Blanco Silgranit sink. But if I were going to buy a stainless sink, I'd go with Kraus as has already been mentioned. The Kraus stainless sinks are the thicker 16-gauge, and the sinks come with sink grid and strainer for free. Many other sinks are the thinner 18-gauge. We like the thicker 16-gauge because it makes the sink less noisy and more solid-feeling. Although we decided against a stainless sink, we ended up buying a Kraus faucet, and really like it. What a lot of bang for the buck. I recommend buying Kraus products from expressdecor, cause our faucet arrived quickly and beautifully packed. Expressdecor had the best price cause they also usually offer a coupon for anywhere bet. 5% and 15% off (it's on the home page of the website). I have no affiliation with the company - I just liked purchasing from them. I wanted to add that you should tell your friend that often the "free" sinks that the installer throws in aren't that great. It could be a shape you don't like (perhaps your friend prefers a rectangular sink to the D-shaped sink that the installer has). And the gauge may be thin, rather than the thicker 16-gauge I mentioned. Or perhaps the free sink is not the right size. Find out what size is the sink cabinet, and let that size guide what the sink size should be, not what the contractor has available as a freebie. I would certainly hope that for twice the price it would be at least twice as nice! Believe me if I could buy the best I would, right now we're not in a place where there is going to be new savings for awhile. We just bought an old house that is needing a lot of work. I'm on a tight budget for the kitchen and it's really the main "luxury" work we're doing, since the kitchen is functional and I don't technically need an island. I just really want a dishwasher and more counter space! I need to stick with a 20"-24" sink due to space constraints and I need to keep the cost of the sink around $200ish. I wasn't really considering the farmhouse style sink for the island until I saw the small Domsjo. Whenever we can replace the main countertop on the back wall I will change out that sink and probably will go with a large apron front sink since I love them and they fit the style of the house. I will definitely save to get an awesome sink for that, but that is ways down the road right now, the current countertop and sink are in fine shape and there are lots of other priorities. This does really have me thinking this may not be the way to go through, if there is that much concern about this sink. Already I was worried about if there were problems that it would be difficult to replace since another of the same would probably be the only option, even that small Whitehaven seems to be smaller than the Domjso so it wouldn't be possible to easily trade up later. A more traditional drop in would be easier to replace if needed without having to replace the whole countertop. Ha, I don't want to plan for things to fail but don't want to get myself into a corner where the only fix is an all new everything!

Cyn427, we compost our produce and eggs, and use that to fertilize our garden. We do not compost meat scraps, nor do we put down the disposal. The only thing that goes down my disposal are small scraps that come off plates before putting them in our dishwasher. We do not have a public composting pick up where I live (my parents do). As far as handwashing, since we are a large family, the dishwasher fills quickly so rather than take up real estate with large pots and pans, I handwash them. Normally by the end of the day, I barely have room for all our dinner dishes, let alone pots. I have to run my diswasher every night.. I also handwash our sharp knives and wooden utensils which I use daily. Neither are supposed to go in the dishwasher. I was not aware of issues with using a garbage disposal so thank you for sharing that. I will certainly keep that in mind as we try to be environmentally conscious where we can.
