High, if your dh bought the plant around a holiday, most like it's a florist azalea and can be grown indoors. There are several types of azaleas. I had literature about the differen types given to me at a flower show.. I wouldn't fertilize in winter..do you think it could be fertilizer burn? Also, if the plants make it, I think I'd look for an acidic fertilizer, use as recommended. Or better yet, buy an Azalea fertilzer. It doesn't need to be applied as often and contains the necessary nutrients for these plants. You can also use this fertilizer on hydrangeas, gardenias, citrus, camellias, or any acid loving plants. I tried the loop at the bottom of the bucket when I read the original comment. Did not work for me at all. Tried again - this time several branches/cuttings and still did not work. If it ever roots, please post. timothy_dobson, I do many hydrangea cutting and there is no fool proof methods of propagation. There are recommend techniques - some are easier than others but none are fool proof! I would suggest to check under the shrub - as suggested in previous comments and find a branch that has roots and use that one taking as much of the branch from the ground roots to the main plant. Curve these into a container and cover with soil. This may give you a better chance of striking more roots.

Hi Fremar - I just today responded to a ? asked by someone from z7b to compare F&E to ES etc. I got 2 F&E in '06 - to add to observations (1st year does not count, since we now, all know the doses of hormones, to force blooms, for sale purposes) 2nd yr only produced 2 blossoms (ES as well) ... I was a bit disappointed (but was educated on a season needed for root development, in the new home, in the ground along w/ some sun as factors. The 3rd was a charm, a banner year indeed - worth the wait!!! ;) I did have to move one F&E to a partial/sun last Fall, to get those 8"x10" blossoms this June! Patience & TLC as Luis suggested - you'll perhaps not have to wait as long as I did (I'll use cottonseed meal in Spring '09). Best of luck!

In case this thread is still helpful to folks, we used Maipei's newer item: ULTRACOLOR PLUS MAX in Pure White. It comes in two colors (pure white and black). Advertised as brightest white on the market and it is indeed very white! We did a new shower with white subway (daltile artic white) and it looks great with this grout. We used maipei frost color on the marble floor (which looks way lighter than the maipei pamphlet shows) and the two colors and materials look nice together. Good luck grouting everyone!
