Another Spam Alert

I wanted to share what I think is another spam/phishing alert. Just this week, I've had at least 3 emails asking me to reset my password.

These are shopping sites that I'm subscribed to. I was suspicious when I got an email from "Macys", with the 'reset passord' message in the headline. Then, 2-3 others have asked the same thing.

I do not open these emails and just trash them.

If I need to change or update any password, I will go directly to the website, and never click thru on one of these emails.

Every single day I get spam pretending to be FedEx. Easy to see it is spam by clicking on the "Fedex sender name" and you can see the email address has nothing to do with FedEx. I should probably see if FedEx has a fraud department that might want to have these emails forwarded to them. I've done that for some Banks and they appreciated being made aware of internet scams with their name on it.

Many people in the company I work for got emails today about a possible issue error in their tax documents. Just as soon as one person did, the warning went out, and the flood gates opened!

I can't keep up with all these spam scams that I have to be sure and tell my elderly father about. He has bitten the bait more than once. Our mantra for him is "Just say No!"

my3dogs, did the emails come to their work email address? Or to their personal address that they opened at work?

We got one of those for my MIL about 5 or 6 years ago. She started talking about them after my SIL had a stroke and laid on the floor for 8 hours until her DH came home from work. As a result of that stroke she has been in a nursing home and cannot move the right side of her body. Now if she had one of these maybe things would be different, but, she was only in her sixties and in good health didn't think she needed one. So, we got it for my MIL as a birthday gift (it sure makes it easy every year as to what we are going to get her besides sending her flowers) and she just loves it. She and we have piece of mind. We live a little more than hour away so it will take time for us to react in an emergency. It not only works in the house, but, we went outside in the yard and it worked as far as across the street into her neighbors drive way. So this way if she is outside near the house all she has to do is push the button if she needs help. The company is US and their operators are all US based. We did everything online with them including paying them every year. I would highly recommend them. Two? That's awful! Here's an easier way to get to the spam.... go to the spammer's page by clicking in the name, then look for the "Activity" tab. That takes you to all recent posts and you can just go down the list and flag away. I just did several dozen, and I do mean at least 40-50.

I've had spam looking like was from FedEx and also PayPal. Very devious stuff.

I get that same spam from Macy's. Also Bloomingdales and PayPal. I don't have a PayPal account, so that one was easy.

My husband got one at his office email saying it was from Amazon and his order for his new iPhone had shipped. He forwarded it to his home address to show it to me. He did not know if perhaps I had ordered it with out telling him but he has never been notified about anything by Amazon before. I told him no it was a scam just delete it from both email addresses. He had not clicked on anything in the email, he knows that I tell him all the time don't click on anything lol.

bp, sorry about the delayed reply - they came to our work email addresses. We have a SPAM mailbox that we then forward them to.

I just helped a neighbor with her new laptop. She disabled her PC per her long-distance son because she had responded to a pop-up message that she had a virus. Gave them her credit card to "fix" the virus. I asked whether she has any type of security (e.g., Norton). She didn't know.
