Mine turning yellow when it grows in?

Possibly a soil minerals related problem. If it is growing actively now maybe you should fertilize it. It wouldn't be expected to do well without any fertilizer at all. A typical annual routine would be frequent watering plus fertilization in summer, with greatly reduced watering, no fertilization in winter when the weather turns dull and the plant becomes less active. With re-potting into a larger container filled with fresh potting medium in spring, as needed. (Also you don't want to leave the base of the pot sitting in water for extended periods).

It looks as if one of the leaves is yellowing a bit too. But overall, it looks healthy.

The only time this has happened with one of mine is when it was getting too much water from the humidity of the dishwater (it was over the sink).

Are you allowing it to drain completely when you water it?

@Lauren: Yeah, I let it stay dry for a while before watering it again. Maybe I'm underwatering it?

I'll also try fertilizing it as Embothrium said. I use distilled water for watering if that's important to know.

@Mentha: could this also be lack of light? The dying parts are near the floor while the healthy parts are on the desk by the lamp. This used to be in lower light but that was a while ago but it's really neat you could tell!

When you let them linger in dryness for a long time and then water, you are bound to get yellow leaves. Pothos like to have a bit of moisture at all times, though they will not necessarily die if they are dry. So you want to get into the habit of watering thoroughly and not letting it get bone dry before the next watering.

that combined with moving it , as mentha points out, is just not super great for the plant.

@Lauren: I wish the leaves were yellowing as that would be easier to diagnose but they aren't. They are going from green to black, skipping all colors inbetween, and it's only on the new growth. The move was too long ago to be causing what it's doing now and its had a lot of new growth in its current brighter spot. I'm going to try fertilizing it and watering more frequently as that seems like the most probable reason when looking at all the data of the plant and info given by everyone.

The only thing I can think of that would case leaves to turn black that way would be overwatering or extremely uneven watering.

i would go easy with the fertilizer. It might be a good idea to flush the soil and give the plant a "reset." Then once it is all watered and perked up, i would give it a weak dose of fertilizer with the subsequent watering.

and, the fact that the ones lower on the floor away from light are dying doesn't indicate a light problem. You will find that the leaves away from the sun on a pothos grow vigorously and healthy.

If anything, I'd think that the dying at the tips indicates that the plant is not getting enough water, so new leaves die.

I had the very same problem with my pothos a couple of years ago. I never did figure it out, but it hasn't happened since i replanted it in good soil from RepotMe mixed with half coarse perlite. Don't know what the real cause was, but it started happening in the colder months
