Counter-space seating or more storage? Peninsula 7' 6" by 2' 6"

I have a narrow peninsula 7'- 6" length x 2'-6" width. I have read on this forum that to do seating, the maximum cabinet depth I can have is 12", for a 15.5" overhang. If you look at the plan below, we don't have a huge kitchen 13' by 8' of cabinets. We have a dining table at the far end of the room. Would you forego the counter-top seating for 24" depth cabinets for more storage? Or, perhaps I can widen the peninsula or does it get in the way of egress? What do you think?
