Vents blow cold air at end of heat cycle, normal?
Comments (6)"We don't have a furnace, we have a boiler." You saved me the trouble sue of explaining that! OK, what you have is an aqua stat that controls the fan in your air handler. When the t stat calls for heat either a pump comes on or a zone valve opens downstairs and allows 180 degree water to flow through the coil in your air handler. On the hot water pipe that leaves the coil should be a thermostat attached to this pipe. When it senses the water is hot enough going back to the boiler it brings on the blower. That thermostat, known as an aqua stat should be set at 140 degrees. Thats the temperature the fan comes on. The fan off setting is usually 100 degrees. Yours is probably set to low. Check the aquastat settings, there may be 2 settings (on and off) or there may be just 1 and a differential. If its that one set it at 140 with a 40 degree differential. The nice thing about a system like yours is you can fine tune them. If 100 degrees feels to cool you can tweek it up a few degrees to find something more to your liking. You don't have to worry about overheating the equipment. Just don't adjust the two settings to close together or else the blower my cycle on and off to ofter before the t room stat is satisfied...See Morecold, cold , cold furnace
Comments (9)Rereading the original post, I think the original poster DOES NOT have a heat pump, but the thermostat downstairs thinks he does. Maybe it needs to be reset and reprogrammed. I have a honeywell touch screen tstat that's capable of doing hybrid, etc but I currently only have gas forced air heat, however, I'd bought a NOMA programmable tstat which had a lot of features I liked, but when I hooked it up, it would control the fan ok and would act like it was calling for heat, but heat never happened. If I jumpered the terminals, the furnace would behave normally. Rather than persist with it when it was getting cold and dark on a weekend with no NOMA technical support available, I just went and got the Honeywell. It was fine after that....See MoreQuestion about Furnace (blowing cold air)
Comments (1)Nevermind....It seems that some damn bum that had come to the door earlier this evening had turned off the gas flow to the unit. That's the only possible explanation that I can think of for the gas line to have been turned off....See MoreLG Model Split Air Conditioning Cooling Intermittently
Comments (0)I have an LG Split Air Con System - small vent unit attached to the wall indoors and larger fan unit outdoors. It is blowing warm air most of the time, but the compressor comes on intermittently and blows cold air for a short period before reverting back to blowing warm air. I've had a technician trying to repair it for days now. The first thing he did was change the 'compressor'? Or he changed some part inside it, but it did not seem to have any effect. After that, I noted how it was working: it was operating like this: 1) Warm air coming out. 2) Fan comes on for 10 mins, 3) Compressor starts. 4) Blows cold air for 7 minutes. 5) Fan stops and compressor stops. 6) Warm air coming out for 8 mins. 7) Fan comes on (cycle repeats itself from step 2). The technician then came back and cleaned both inside and outside units, top to bottom with some kind of powerful compressed air cleaner. Now, it operates in a similar fashion to the cycles described above, except now, it is warm MOST of the time, with the compressor and fan OFF most of the time, and only cold for a short while before going back to warm. The tech is now 'guessing' that it could be a 'sensor' problem and is going to swap sensors over between my other 'working' LG air con unit to test it. Another point to mention is that in the short time periods when it does blow cold air, it is not as cold as my other 'working' LG unit. Many thanks for any pointers in the right direction to solve this problem. Thanks, Des....See Moremike_home
