Bathtub Shorter than 60'??
Comments (6)jas-space - American Bath has Freestanding 54" and 19" deep and a drop (end drain) in the same size. Below is the link for the drop in. The American Bath link is for the freestanding. http://www.americanbathfactory.com/sales/part.php?item=11761 Here is a link that might be useful: American Bath...See More60 inch air tubs
Comments (19)Wanted to say thanks to all who posted here and raised other perspectives, offered suggestions and in general made me think about things I probably had not thought of before. Very helpful and very appreciated. I managed to go out and see some empty tubs today but even that helped me see some things. At this point I am going to visit with my contractor to see if there is any reasonable way to fit a 66 inch tub into the bathroom. I am 6 ft 1 and while I can fit inside the 60 inch it is an easier fit to go one size up. Sometimes seeing is helpful! My list is now fairly short: Kohler Underscore Aquatic Serenity 35 Mirabelle Edenton 36x66 or 36x60 I had thought about the MTI Andrea 11 but pricing there starts to climb rapidly and there just comes a point where I have to say "enough". If I spent 60 minutes every day in the tub an in line heater, arm rests etc might be a good idea. One thing about the Serenity that was good to see is how high and wide the borde rof tub is. Definitely will require a long reaching faucet and I wonder if climbing out an dover will be difficult (tub I saw today was not yet set up in its box) The Aquatic certainly looked ok. As did the Mirabelle (lowest price option). I did not see the Edenton but one similar. Overall I am probably somewhat partial to the Kohler underscore "look" but then it wa salso undermounted. I do prefer an under mount appearance but not sure I want to go there. Seems more involved for the installation. I also need to see what the 240V aspects will cost for the install (not sure I have space in breaker box). Still deciding but the list is very much smaller now! Water depth on all of these tubs is more than deep enough.. 17.5 to almost 19 inches to overflow....See MoreDo slipper tubs offer more or less leg room?
Comments (2)We purchased a Victorian and Albert 60" Shropshire slipper tub. I am average height at 5.5 1/2 inches. The interior measurement of my tub is 43" (flat area for bootie and legs). My legs extend strait and the length is perfect for me to lean back on the slipper part. It is very relaxing to recline. Sitting up strait did not feel like there was no support to the back because the slope is not like a chaise lounge recline. I will be buying a tacky inflatable suction cup pillow though. My head seemed to go back further than I may want. Who knows. The Volcanic limestone is supposed to absorb and retain heat very well so, I may just prune up beyond recognition and stay in the tub forever. I am not a big bather only due to our cultured marble jetted tub that takes a lot of water to fill (it's really wide) and the jets don't work. I sat in a few free standing tubs at the plumbing supply and all were good, just the slipper gave you that little extra luxuriousness to just lean back and soak. And it is just so darn elegant. The one drawback is you are in a very awkward position to try to put your arms on the rim. It's not cut out for that, due to the slipper shape. I had room in the 66 inch tub (461/2 interior). My husband, who is only 5.10" had to bend his knees. From what I can recall (this was back in early Oct), where his knees came up to was still below the overflow so they would not be sticking out of the water. Your husband is tall, and his knees may stick out. That said, you have 44" interior space. Mark a 44" area on the floor and have your spouse sit in the space. See how far he has to bend his knees....See Morecost of tiling a bath tub area
Comments (5)You CAN'T go just to 20", unless there's no showerhead. You must go a minimum of 6' off the finished floor. As for cost,, so long as you just use corner shelves instead of a niche, you can usually get a tub done for about 1000.00, all inclusive....See MoreAutumn Giles
