I feel sorry for this guy. I hope he's otherwise mentally strong, secure and healthy, because this is turning out to be the flub heard 'round the world!

I missed the "naked" response, but I'm sure I was listening when he was doing the crossword puzzle. It was the one with the word like "picker" in it and he gave another flub answer? I don't recall right now what it was exactly.

Was he a really young guy? Maybe he was never exposed to classic literature?

He was probably no younger than late twenties. I'm guessing thirties. A friend commented about it. While he thought "naked" wouldn't have been his choice because it made no sense in the context of a title, he also said he never heard of that play. He's 40. So yeah, I guess some things have dropped out of high school and college curricula.

I didn't see it but unbelievable that you could go thru life never hearing of that famous play. I bet he felt foolish.

I'm sure a LOT of people have never heard of Tennessee Williams *or* his plays. This contestant *had* heard of "naked desire". I didn't see the program, just caught coverage on the morning news. I'd guess this man had not built the rest of the words; had he? (I have no context for quiz show questions on most pop music topics.)

I had to look up the term 'sticky wicket', I'd never heard it before.

I remember reading somewhere, don't remember where now, reading that they ("they" being whoever comes up with the puzzles to use) often have a hard time coming up with words and phrases to use that will give all the contestants an even and fair chance to win. I'm not sure if they meant this was due to age, culture, amount of education, or all of the above. Most of the time all the contestants do appear to be fairly close in age. But I have often wondered what the criteria is to get on the show.

Poor guy! I can sometimes beat the contestants when I'm watching the game, but I'm not sure I would be able to give a quick witted response under pressure. I'm great at some of the categories. Some of the categories are outside of my experience level. I hope this poor guy gets a consolation prize.
