Bird Nets: Damned If I Do, And Damned If I Don't!
Comments (35)Lou, you crack me up! I had an old neighbor once in the country who shot a red-tailed hawk who came after his chickens. Wildlife had just released them a year earlier in a repopulation project. I told the wildlife guy at the time he was releasing them in the wrong area, that they would all be dead soon. He said that a lot of people would be in jail if they were. Nobody ever went to jail. The hawks caught on and moved elsewhere. I heard they were seen in Aiken, about 30 miles down the road, where they raise horses, not chickens, and love hawks because they eat the barn mice. Birds are smarter than we think they are. It's sad that we can't protect our crops from migratory marauders, but rich people can breed doves and foxes by the hundreds and shoot them on a yearly basis for "sport". FWIW, I've done some borderline illegal stuff to protect my garden when I lived in the country, and I purposely put net on my chicken coops to kill the snakes. I like snakes...in their place...but chickens are not as cheap to raise as some people think....See MoreShoulder....da** you Oakley! ;-)
Comments (30)Hi Guys! * Yaya- I see the P.A. I saw on Jan 3 on Feb 2 I think. I'll ask about that shot(s)! What types of shots are there for shoulders? B4 my new knee in Sept. '14, I had that $1,000 Synvisc shot that Feb. Didn't really do much, but we knew going in that it was a crapshoot. * Msmeow- OH NO!! Yikes....that sounds painful! I mentioned when my injury happened, I was throwing my arms out to the side to keep from falling. That's when I got shot.........in my shoulder.... ;-) Sure felt like it anyway! My PT guy says he'd like for me to avoid injections, since they'll just mask what's really going on. I know that makes sense, but...... I'll keep doing my shoulder/back exercises, since they'll strengthen/support the whole shoulder mechanism, & its operation. Along those lines, it'll help keep an upright posture. I don't wanna turn into the letter "C" like SO many people do, just cuz they never learned how to (or cared??) do simple exercises!!!!! * Oakley- Yes, keeping the shoulders DOWN AND BACK when moving thru an exercise motion keeps the vulnerable "Cuff" muscles & tendons from hitting the Acromio-Clavicular (AC) Joint just above it. That causes SO many issues/problems. >>> The stronger your back & shoulder-blade muscles are, the better your shoulder can handle a load. So many of us have such weak back muscles, because they're never used!! Ever hear the word "Atrophy"?! SQUEEZE THAT EGG ON YOUR SPINE!! ;-) Faron...See MoreYikes. Not such good Rt shoulder news.... :-(
Comments (20)Here's the "meat" of the U/S report from the PA who scanned me on 2-17. It's not the full radiology-report, but this sounds depressing enough....?! ULTRASCAN: Routine imaging of the right shoulder is performed. This shows significant tendinopathy of the biceps tendon. Tendinopathy of the subscapularis tendon is noted with free fluid around the subscapular and subdeltoid spaces. Supraspinatus tendon shows a full-thickness tear with significant fluid in the subacromial and subdeltoid bursa. The infraspinatus tendon posteriorly is intact with a large amount of fluid in the subacromial bursa. Moderate to severe degenerative changes noted at the acromioclavicular joint. Left shoulder ultrasound shows moderate to severe tendinopathy of the biceps tendon. Subscapularis tendon is intact as well as the infraspinatus tendon. Again noted is a partial-thickness tear of the supraspinatus tendon without retraction. There is moderate tendinopathy of the supraspinatus tendon, likely due to chronic impingement. Mild swelling in the bursa is noted. Moderate degenerative changes noted in the acromioclavicular joint. Ugghhhh.....Not sure if I like the phrase "moderate &/or severe degenerative changes...". Oh well! Sounds like I need to go I to the shop?! ;-) I can't find my extended-warranty papers either! Faron...See MoreDamn. now PTTD trouble!! Grrrr!
Comments (7)Thanks guys! Ya....this is a pain in the foot for sure! Got fitted/molded (stepping into a firm-foam material shoebox) last Monday. Hopefully, they'll get them in end of this week?! Mdln- I've looked at that site before. It's very good, professional, & informative. Lol Oly! Yes....I'm finding that out! ;-) Right shoulder rehab going fine however! Found out at the 3-month visit with my surgeon last Wed, that they'll probably broaden the criteria for using the stem-cell Rotator-cuff treatment! They'll know in Sept how well the first group (with the smaller tears) are doing. If those are healing well, they're gonna try it on larger partial tears, like my Left shoulder. Sooooooo....if things work right, it might be a busy Fall! Ideally, I'd like the right foot surgically corrected b4 winter.....and.....the Stem-cells doin' their thing in my left shoulder! UFFDA! Faron...See Moremsmeow
