Fridge and Range Help - Info Overload!

We are in the market for stainless appliances for new construction and overwhelmed by the all the information and reviews at our fingertips. We've decided on a Bosch dishwasher but would love help navigating the fridge and gas range rabbit holes (budget for both is about $5k):

30" gas range: We really liked the look and feel of the Blomberg. Anyone have any experience with it (recognizing that it's relatively new to market)? We currently have a Bertazzoni and love the look but find it slightly small.

36" counter depth fridge: We liked the look of the Frigidaire Professional but the reviews are mixed at best and the ice maker takes up a ton of space in the fridge. Two local appliance stores warned us to stay away from Samsung on part availability. The stores recommended the Electrolux IQ Touch or the Bosch 800 series (and the Frigidaire). KitchenAid seems to have stellar reviews. Any thoughts on 36" CD fridge? Sounds like in-door water/ice may be more trouble than it's worth?

Oh I really dont recommend frigid aire professional. I'm having Lowes pick up ours tomorrow for return (was delivered first week of March). Lots of problems though I have the one without ice maker. It's impossible to level, top leans back against wall, with a 2" difference visible from top to bottom on side of fridge. The trim piece at the bottom sticks out on one side (with sharp corner exposed) but this is apparently a design flaw because the ice maker model at the store had the same issue. The door alarm part of the control panel has been dead since arrival. I'm sorry because I like the exterior square lines and hefty handles and all the door storage for milk and pitchers. The fridge has been freezing stuff too, on the recommended 37 deg. I'm just really unhappy though maybe we just got a bad one. The drawers inside feel cheap like they'll break. I will be happy when it's gone!

The Bosch is small.

I've decided to get the Kitchenaid KRFC704FPS . It's a little larger, and has a bigger fridge than freezer. I'm really happy with our other new KA appliances (slide in induction range, overrange microwave, and compactor). This model does have in door dispenser which I didn't want, but it's narrow enough for racks inside.

deirdref: Thanks for the link - I've been there already (that's how I found out the Wave touch has 3 baskets and the IQ has 2 freezer baskets). I guess I didn't pay attention to the other details like the "cool zone" and "perfect temp drawer" because I'm so focused on the freezer compartment. I'm going to have to speak to my contact at Electrolux (she said I can call her anytime) again and double check on the configuration of both freezers. If the specs say they have the same volume, I wonder if she was wrong when she told me the wave touch was configured differently in the freezer to give it more room than the IQ model. I'd love to see them both side by side. The rebate we got was not with Sears - it was through Electrolux so anyone could apply for it no matter where they buy their appliances as long as it is within the time period that Electrolux stated on the rebate form. Didn't the store you bought it at tell you? With the first offer, you had to buy before June 12th and the second rebate offer was between June 13th or 15th until the 30th. I qualified for the second and just mailed in my form to Electrolux (I had until August 10th to mail it but the purchase date had to be between the dates I mentioned). I also got a better price than what Sears was offering becuase I went to other several stores and Sears did a price match. When did you purchase your appliances and how many did you buy?

Sorry, no pictures yet but I am going to have all those on one wall and yes, it was a little challenging to figure out where the microwave was going to go! We have an L shaped kitchen with island. The long wall with the appliances meets up perpendicular to a window wall with sink (and an upper on each side of window. There's also a sink on the island, which is parallel to the cooktop. We considered, but ultimately did away with corner cabinets in favor of uppers that meet in a right angle. Facing the wall we will have (from left to right) a microwave/oven/warming drawer stack, built in fridge, and upper cabinets flanking a hood. Below the hood is a full range. If you are willing to split up your ovens that way it's one way to solve the microwave dilemma. Depending on the type of range this may or may not be a more costly option. Toaster oven will be the only appliance I keep out on the counter. There's another wall across the room where I'll put the coffee "center." The other option would have been to go with a cooktop instead of a range, double ovens and microwave built in to the island. PS Not meant to be a hijack, but my dilemma with this particular configuration is what to do about the hood. Even though I really like side pullouts down to the counter, my instinct is that it would chop up the space too much and call attention to the fact that the range is not centered on the run.

I'm in the same boat, right down to past mastery of minor things like switches! I just spent some time at a local lighting place this week too. Basically I was told a 6 inch light covers about 6 feet, a 4 inch would cover 4 feet. With the space in our kitchen and where our sink light and hood lights are, I think we might go with 4 inch LEDs. The 6 inch ones end up close to those other light sources and not where needed, or I'd be using an extra one with close spacing and risk cooking in a stadium! I'd suggest trying one on either side of the sink, center one on that first lower and base your spacing on that with a third one down near the range. Then one on either side of the fridge. They would be 24-36 inches from the wall. And maybe a ceiling fixture or fan/light in the middle. See how that looks. It's often easier to revise once you have something to look at. I'm still going in circles with the UC lights. I have a quote from environmental lights online for their dimmable bars with drivers in the light bars (max light?). I need to call and have them walk me through it as there is no diagram, just a list. It is a little less than the local store options.

Get a fridge that is a very standard size so that when you need to replace it in 10 or 15 years, you'll be able to find one that fits. Chances are it would be 20 years with a Sub-Zero. Also, check lead times to make sure that you get your fridge in time to move in. If you purchase from a local appliance dealer that has a repair department, they might be able to give you the most current information on reliability issues.

Also looking for 36" CD fridge. Right now I am planning the new KitchenAid (KRFC604FSS) with 23.8 cu ft. If your household does not need exterior water/ice you will save yourself service problems in the future (on any fridge). In my case I am choosing that over kids constantly opening and closing the fridge door to get to the internal one. The only thing I don't like about it is the freezer drawer layout, lighting and ease of access.

I saw a nice 36 CD LG in the store with the slimline water dispenser and a much better bottom freezer than the KA but need to research reviews...

Thanks for the info. I should have focused on KitchenAid. KRFC302ESS seems to have very solid reviews so I think we're going to go with that if we can manage the height and KRFC30ESS if we can't. Really appreciate the feedback. Now onto the range...
