Anyone NOT have counter-depth refrigerator? Pics
Comments (11)ccat - others have said most of what I was going to say. I have been going through the same questioning. I started out assuming I would go with standard depth because I didn't want to give up any capacity and I didn't have room to go wider. BUT then I started looking at the actual dimensions of the standard and counter depth friges. I then realized that some of the current "standard" depth friges that I was looking at were in fact quite a lot deeper than my existing (circa mid 80's) frig. So I finally decided to go with a counter depth Jenn Air. It turns out to have more capacity than my old one, though not a lot more. I agree that you should get a panel that covers the entire side of the frig, sans door. If you are going with a stainless frig the sides typically are just painted black and look terrible. You should also pull the upper cabinets over the frig out to the same depth. (Try to get a 24" deep cabinet there, which will be much more useful.)...See MoreCounter depth or full depth Fridge based on layout
Comments (3)Making the cabinets deeper on the fridge wall would allow you to put deeper upper cabinets there as well - not a bad thing. I do have other concerns about your layout, however. Where do the doors go? It looks like your cooktop is in a traffic path, if that door in the lower left is used much. So is your wall oven. Switching the peninsula to the other side - extending from the bottom of your drawing instead of the top - helps to direct traffic to the other side of the island - but creates a whole new set of problems, like trapping the fridge in a corner. Where will you keep dishes and glasses? It doesn't look like you have any space near the DW....See MorePlease help selecting Dual Fuel range and Counter Depth Fridge
Comments (9)Thanks for your reply. We are in Canada, Ontario, and our prices are significantly higher than the US prices. There is very little difference between Benchmark and 800 series range - Benchmark has 20,000 BTU middle burner vs 18,000 BTU for 800 series. Benchmark has one telescopic rack - 800 series does not have it. Price difference is about $300. Best deal I found for Bosch fridge in Canada is $3300 (this is with Bosch rebate going on) and I can get ELUX for $2200 + 3 year part warranty from Electrolux thrown in. I would prefer Bosch even though it's smaller than Electrolux, but the price difference is huge, Bosch is almost $1000 more. Another dilemma is how interchangeable these fridges are. The cabinets will be custom made, and the fridge will be in the wall of cabinets. Bosch / JA are 72" high, and Elux is about 70" high. I already accepted the idea that these fridges will not last more than 7-8 years, and then I will need a new fridge to place in the same opening. Would you buy extended warranty with any of those appliances? Is it worth it? Thanks...See MoreWall ovens built directly into wall- no cabinets- Anyone have pics?
Comments (9)I think the main reason it isn't normally done is that you would need a wall that is 24 inches deep and most walls are 4-6 inches deep. If layout permits, like infinitylounge's grandmothers where there is a fireplace on the other side,, then why not? My personal worry with putting it under stairs would be that you have to take out the current framing under the stairs, the framing that is supporting the stairs themselves to do it. I would definitely want an engineer to look at it first....See Morepositano
