Board and batten vinyl siding
Comments (2)Hello Sheri,Sorry I dont have any pics of our project. Our contractor has not gotten started on our job yet. The product we will be using is Certain Teed Board and Batten. It is a premium siding which is .48" in thickness. This is much thicker than the standard siding that is normally used on double wide's. The cost is a bit higher than standard siding, and as far as the water issue, if it is installed correctly that should not be an issue. We will also be doing a house wrap under the siding as well. I will post some pics when we get the project complete. If you go to CertainTeed.com they have pics and specs of product there. You can aslo Google Board and Batten siding, if you want to get a look at it....See MoreMetal siding vs. Hardie board and batten? Pros/cons?
Comments (2)I have Hardie Board on my 7 year old house and it's in good shape. But honestly, my next house will have vinyl. The Hardie dents, scratches and crumbles when water logged. If you take a piece off to fix something you probably have to replace it with a new piece - which will not match. None of those things are problems with vinyl. I think that using a pressure washer would be out of the question. Not only would you drive water into the seams but you stand a good chance of taking the finish off the Hardie. Good luck....See MoreTransition from lap siding to board & batten- roof line vs double J

Comments (31)The Chelsea Building Products website says Everlast composite siding is a mixture of polymeric resin and granular stone. The Intertek Code Compliance Research Report CCRR-0201 says it's made of cellular (foamed) PVC with a chemically bonded acrylic cap (containing the color) with no mention of the granular stone which is probably some kind of stone dust. The report requires the siding to be installed over structural wood sheathing. The 4.5" and 6.875" reveal horizontal lap siding must be fastened every 16" with 2.5" s.s. screws or 2" roofing nails into the wall studs and the 11" reveal vertical board & batten siding must be fastened with 1 5/8" s.s. screws every 7.5" into the wood sheathing (which is a lot of screws)....See Moregthigpen
