With that much space between leaves, I'd still say not enough light.

The clumps of foliage at the end of stems do look like plants on runners, though.

I think it's etiolated, but this is what I would do to solve the mystery. Take some cuttings. Cut off one or two growth tips. Once they start rooting properly put outside in the sun. Depending on where you live that may not even be possible. I have a feeling once the cuttings start getting sun on both sides the new growth will be more compact:). This could be a science experiment:).

I think it was Crenda that posted photo of her K. blossfeldiana that is trailing - but plant is very full and blooming profusely.

While this one has smaller leaves than I usually see on K.b., I also think that it is etiolated.

It's a beauty, Crenda. I think it's nicer trailing. I wonder if it's a mutation from the original type. Yours isn't lacking light, and it's trailing. It's a stunner.

Nice Crenda! I have a few plants that trail only under certain circumstances, if they are potted and become overlarge or rootbound, or grown in a bed where they lean on other plants, they'll fall when their support is removed. I don't have blossfeldiana, but I do have other kalanchoe that do this even though they are in full sun.

I still think the OP's Kalenchoe looks very different then Crenda's. Crenda's is compact no space in between leaves. My K. blossfeldiana leaves get more yellow the more sun they get. I think I'm gonna pull it out and get a new one. I'm not particularly attached to it.

The fact that the plant's owner believes the light to be "adequate" is totally irrelevant the the question as to whether it is etiolated. I would agree with the others who have said it is etiolated. While Crenda's is also cascading, the growths are much more compact -- unlike the first plant's.

Do you think they are the same plant?

Your plant reminds me of a little bit of trailing Lantana, but I know that's not it.

any plant can be turned into a hanging plant just so long as it is left alone to grow long and heavy enough it will begin to hang I have done this with many of my own including a few cacti that are not supposed to hang

I happen to be here at my mother's house and here is one that she just happens to have had growing and only water in her kitchen window. it seems to be doing fairly well considering that it's only in water and getting sunlight. It was much smaller when she received it about two months ago.

Maybe it was shorter, not really smaller. But long, skinny growth doesn't mean plant is doing well; it has grown long because it is looking for some light... It is extremely etiolated, and succulents shouldn't be grown in water. It will live, but never be a plant it should be.

It should be potted in a fast draining mix, and grow compact, and good green color. And sturdy stems that can self-support.
