The only two I have on your list are Sierra Grande and Lavender Heartthrob. I have had S G for about 4 years, it makes huge fans for me. I do have it in a half whiskey barrel so it has plenty of root space. It blooms and reblooms for a long time. Good choice. Lavender H. I just got this spring directly from the Stamiles. It bloomed for a long time also with rebloom. I highly recommend them both.

I grow lots of Stamile cultivars, but the only one I have from your list is Tranquil Waters. In my garden it's tall, and elegant, and the color is true to the picture. My only complaint is that I haven't been able to set pods on it, but it's pollen is fertile.
It's a great plant, and a great addition to my garden!

I grow several Stamiles, but the only one on your list is San Ignacio and it's new this year. I like most of the ones I have.

I am shovel pruning Lavender Heartthrob soon. It has been horrible in my garden. I wonder if I have the real thing. It is pale, never opens well, just a dud for me. So surprising for a Stamile. How can this be? It needs humidity maybe? Not much here.

I have grown San Ignacio for 7 years. It has a nice rounded form with full sepals and petals. It increases well. The form of the flower is very "crisp" and perky which I like a lot. By the way I bought it the year after it was released and Stamile sent me a huge clump - maybe 5 fans even though it was selling for $100.

kathy9norcal - I will give Lavender Heartthrob a try here in good ol' Texas if you are really going to take it out! I promise to send pictures! :o) grin.... It is on my list of wants... Maybe I could send you some handmade herbal soaps in return?

I was trying to order 'Seeing Blue' (Stamile) from Bill Maryott, but when I called, he said "oh no.. I just pulled that one because it is growing terribly!" He did not recommend buying it (I didn't - I got Lavender Fantasia instead), so I guess some of them just have bad growth habits. I was very surprised.

Evonline - Thanks for the info on San Ignacio... I haven't "obtained" this one yet, since the list is sooooooo long, but it is up there on my list. I just bought two new cultivars from the Stamile's to be sent late Sept. Blue Elf and Little Blue Bell! I can't wait for these minis!!!

I have several stamile's but only two on your list Lavender Heartthrob and Wren's song. They both arrived this spring. Lavender Heartthrob did absolutely nothing only now starting to show new leaves. Wren's song bloomed and by last bloom looked like the picture in Stamile's web site.
My other Stamile's are Absolute Treasure, Bold Tiger, Custard candy, El Bandito, El Desperado, Raspberry Candy, Ruby Spider, Seminole Wind, Singular Sensation, Soft Summer Night, Strawberry Candy, Velvet Ribbons, White Perfection, Wineberry Candy. Thanks for the pictures and the post. Hmmm... Makes me wonder about LH... You and kathy9norcal have had problems... maybe they just take a year to settle in?

I have Strawberry Candy, and I just got it this spring. It bloomed its little heart out. Some days it was pinker than others and some days it was more salmon colored. It is growing pretty well - actually I have/had six of them, but lost a few due to weather... We had a TON of rain and they were doing great... then straight from rainy and 70's to high 90's... Some of them went into shock (maybe I forgot to water for a few days durring the strange transition) and died. One of the gonners actually has put out a tiny new shoot, so now I am hopeful that if I don't dig the others, they might come back too.

Since my first post, the list has grown... Seminole Wind is also on there. How is it growing for you? Do the blooms last all day?

I have several on your lists, and the only one that has been a real disappointment is SPINY SEA URCHIN. I didn't have one decent bloom on that one. It opens poorly and is always splotchy for me.

The ones on your list that always open well, have lots of buds, and multiply well for me are SHORES OF TIME, CHARTERED COURSE, DELTA BLUES, MAGIC AMETHYST, TREMOR, SWEET SUGAR CANDY and CHANCE ENCOUNTER.

SHORES OF TIME - The best Stamile pink of all time!

CHARTERED COURSE - An excellent daylily I highly recommend!

SWEET SUGAR CANDY has been a superb late bloomer for me. I highly recommend it.

SIERRA GRANDE has a big, beautiful bloom but multiplies slowly for me. I think it would perform better farther north, since it's a hard dormant.

RICTER has lots and lots of buds, reblooms well, but multiplies slowly for me.

FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS has a big bloom with deep, rich color. It's well budded and multiplies well. I bought it because it was registered as a late, but it is a midseason bloomer for me.

UPTOWN GIRL is another I bought because it was supposed to be a late bloomer. It isn't - blooms early here. It is a lovely pink and is supposed to have as many as 50 buds per scape when established. So far, it has multiplied slowly for me.

CHANCE ENCOUNTER is a really great one in every way!

I also have ABSOLUTE TREASURE, MAGNIFICENT RAINBOW and CREATIVE EDGE. They all have gorgeous blooms, but multiply slowly for me. PASTILLINE is wonderful diploid mini.

From your lists, here's what I have:

Bella Sera...just replaced it as mine didn't make it through last winter. Don't know why, it looked great when I received it...and did fine up until our harsh February. Have seen it in gardens and liked it...so, I'm trying again...very optimistic.

Blue Pink Beauty...nice pink, but hasn't increased greatly for me...next year could be the charm (third year...time for the "leaping"...as in sleep, creep, and leap)

Delta Blues...received two small fans and after a couple years or more, still have two small fans (I hope)...nice bloom, but not increasing at all for me.

Druids Chant...another one I saw blooming and decided I needed...it did bloom this year, but I think next year will be better.

Lavender Heartthrob...had a bad year this year, not sure why, don't think I got a good picture of it...I'm sure it will do better next year (I hope)...has increased well.

Magnificent Rainbow is coming in the near future...saw it in a tour garden and thought it was lovely...lots of blooms!

Nancy Billingslea...got a large single fan last year, but didn't bloom until this year and took almost to the last flower to show me something. I'm optimistic that this one will be better next year, too.

Palladian Pink...bought this after someone on the robin recommended it...blooming machine but melts in the heat here...has increased well.

Pink Cotton Candy...received this as a double fan last year, bloomed nicely and has really grown. I was going to get rid of it, but liked it well enough that I've decided to divide it between the person I promised it to and myself.

Ribbons and Things...loved this one so much last year...this year, it has really struggled. I originally had a nice single fan, but it didn't do well, so I bought a terrific double fan (the nice blooms I saw last year)...It looks like it is struggling and since I liked it so well, have bought it again (three times is it, though!)...we shall see...really pretty, though.

Rose Vision...better this year, but again, think next year it will come into its own

San Ignacio...another one that came as a single fan and took a bit to settle in...think it will shine next year.

Shores of Time...has increased slowly, but next year (that old third year thing...for a lot of these), I'm expecting big things...last few blooms this year were wonderful.

Southern Wind...like this one! It's done pretty well and I have no complaints...although, I'd like more increase.

Spiny Sea Urchin...new this year...arrived as a fat single fan that split into two smaller fans. Did have a few blooms and they were pretty nice, but smaller than I expected...something I think will change when it settles in. Doesn't look too terrific right now, but maybe our rains of late will help it out.

Wren Song...bought this directly from the Stamiles and they were generous. Last year, I got rebloom as it was on a more southern time. I like it, big blooms and gets a nice edge with heat.

Finding Blue...didn't bloom last year and didn't return for me this year.

Nano Probe...is increasing, seems to make small fans...bloomed last year, but not this year.

That's all I have from your lists. I do have other Stamiles, though so know that you are in good company...so many daylilies, so little space...lol!

P.S. When I looked back at this, it really struck me how single fans seem to need more time...something to think about...I think I'd avoid them with a lot of these.

Stamile is my absolute favorite for good form. To see a whole page of his cultivars make it so clear that his standards for choosing a plant as market worthy are very high. He is an all time great plant breeder.

Shive - First - What BEAUTIFUL pictures you have! You must have a fantastic garden! How long have you been collecting?

Spiny Sea Urchin - I am not married to this one - I am on the fence about the "sharks teeth" thing... and there are a million and one other purples/blues that I want to get...but, I'll keep my eye on your (Shive & gonegardening) posts about this one.

Bella Sera - I DO really like this one, and hear it makes a good parent (bonus).

Shores of Time - wowee! that is a great picture of it, I think even more flattering than the Stamile's pic. I am glad to know that it multiplies well - I have a few right now that I am worried about (one big fat fan - no growth). Makes me a little nervous.

Chartered Course - I go back and forth on this one... does it ever look peach to you? I know things grow differently in different places, but I just really don't like peach colors very much. I do like the light watermark and the yellow and pink combo - your pic looks lovely Shive! I am glad to know you really like this one, makes it easier to spend the $$.

Delta Blues - I love the way this one looks, but I am sad that it is not increasing for you gonegardening... Looks like for you Shive, it is increasing well... Had it long? I really want this one, but like Seeing Blue, will give it up if it has bad habits (It smokes...LOL).

Magic Amethyst - Good to know it multiplies well! According to my notes, it is one I am on the fence about. Looks a little splotchy in the picture, but it could just be the pic...

Tremor - Oh so cute, I really like the combo of the bi-tone and colored eye rings...every time I see it, I want it more! I am so glad to hear more good about it! Yippee!

Sweet Sugar Candy - I want it, I want it! Late is the reason I have a lot of these on the list too... I am glad she is actually blooming late for you.

Sierra Grande - I do so love the bloom - but I am worried about those dang dormants down here... I guess as long as it doesn't die... I could put up with slow.

Ricter - HEY! This isn't on my list! What?? Are you trying to make my list LONGER?! Stop it! (Ooooo I like it)....

Follow Your Dreams - I have it on the list because of the Late bloom, but shoot, it's a beaut - Late, Mid whatever... I am glad to hear it is doing so well... I really like the color of this one.

Uptown Girl - Same idea with the late thing... weird that is blooms EARLY! I really like the color (white mid-rib) and the pink and white bi-tone... 50 buds! Holy Cow! Let me know if you get there!

Chance Encounter - Awww.. I do like this one... I am glad to hear MORE good news. Everything I read about this one is good, good..

Absolute Treasure - I have been putting this one in a holding pattern due to the fact that I read its rust report - said it was a rust machine... do you have any problems?

Magnificent Rainbow - I like because it is supposed to be another late and is a beauty. Slow is ok, I guess I just won't transplant it around the yard like the others (once I get it and clump it... tee hee..)

Creative Edge - This one is new to my list, but thought it would be nice to have for the purple eye - SOMEONE around here told me I need purple eyes to cross with my blues!

Pastilline - Oh, I likeee a lot! I am glad to know it is doing well for you. I am not a Tet snob, although looking at my list there sure are a lot of them! Hmm... All American Baby, Frosted Pink Ice, Iddy Biddy Gal, Julietta, Little Sensation are Dips...ok, it's mixed...

Ribbons and Things - By struggling, you mean not growing/blooming? Just hanging out? I liked it because it says it is very fragrant, has good bud count and branching and re-blooms... PLUS I love the feminine color of this one... so soft and pretty.

Rose Vision - On the fence about this one... I like the color...

San Ignacio - This one is on the top of my list...

Southern Wind - Good to know it is doing well. I would like all of mine to clump up instantly! I keep checking everyday to see if it's happened yet! LOL

Wren's Song - Oh, we have heat here baby, so if the edge needs it, I guess I will get a good edge! I am getting more and more excited about this one... I love the way it looks.

Finding Blue - :o( Oh... I am so sorry.

Nano Probe - I think this is a little tiny -like my Itty Bitty Blue. There are a lot of fans and leaves, but they are so little... like the width of a pencil. Somehow I think they are just mini plants to go with those mini flowers.

gonegardening - Again, thank you so much for the post. I do have to find more room... I killed a weeping willow (had it moved twice in one season) so we are thinking of putting in a flower bed there... Oooo.. more DL room! You should posts some pics of your (I am sure) beautiful gardens... looks like they are stuffed with DL! :o)

After my order from Marietta's came with some of my cultivars as three individual fans of one plant (vs. a double fan division) - I will never order single fans. Three out of Three died. I think they are just to dang small to make it through shipping, replanting et all. I will wait or pay more for double fans... Maybe if one can get single fans local (aka grown in a pot where you don't have to disturb it) they would do better... but for me, unh uh... I will not risk it again. Made me very sad to see them die. As an aside, Marietta's did offer to replace them with my next order.

I don't know about rust on Absolute Treasure never had it here. White Perfection is a nice white with high bud count.

Absolute Treasure - had some problems setting pods. Opens night before.

Winebury Candy - started blooming last week of june and is still blooming. Hot or cold opens well. Increases fast.

Soft Summer Night - Opens well hot or cold. Still blooming. Long bloomer. Increases fast.

Seminole Wind - Does not fade in sun. Nice bloom. High bud count.

Fairy Soap - CHARTERED COURSE has never looked peachy to me. ABSOLUTE TREASURE is a rust magnet. It broke out with rust the first year I had it, but I cut it down to the ground and in subsequent years it never showed rust again. I've only had DELTA BLUES for a year and a half. It came as two fans and is four fans now.

By the way, RICTER was listed on your very first post. So you must have thought about it at some time.:)

I have Pink Cotton Candy but I don't remember if it's fragrant!

Also have:
Druid's Chant and I really like it. It has very sturdy scapes and I love the color.
Broadway Pink Slippers- I like the pink. I also have Broadway Ingenue and I love the color. It's so bright and rich.

I got Driving Me Wild last year and it's blooms this year were not the best. Better next year I'm sure.

Thanks for the pics! I really love the color, texture, form and growth habits of Absolute Treasure... I am not afraid of rust, but I don't really want it to take over my garden either. I guess it would limit who would trade with me (eventually).

I usually don't like peachy pinks, but Soft Summer Night seems like an exception of my rule... maybe because it has a pink eye, rebloom, very fragrant and it is nice to know it is a fast increaser... thanks for the info!

Seminole Wind - Oooo... everytime I see it I want it more! Re-bloom, extended bloom, fragrant, fertile... the only drawback, again, was the rust issue... Anyone in southern zones have experience with this one?

Shive - Thank you for you posts... It is good to know CC is pink. I will spray for rust if I get it - I like my garden to look good and plants to be healthy, but I won't freak out if/when it happens... I will just try to treat it. I am glad that you were able to get rid of it.

Hee hee... Ricter - I guess I have too many on the list - I don't know why it is not on there now... but I see it up there! Durrr.... It looks like a nice one! I think originally I liked it because it was an early and had good branching/bud count. Nice to hear that confirmed. BTW... I noticed your picture on Tinkers!

I posted earlier about Tranquil Waters... a GREAT plant. I grow a few more Stamiles' on this thread right now. Here's my take:
ABSOLUTE TREASURE- Gorgeous flower. Major rust magnet in my garden. I love the bloom and keep the plant, but I wouldn't recommend it based on the rust-magnet factor. I have several Stamile plants within touching distance and they are regularly unaffected.

DRUID'S CHANT - Grows right next to ABSOLUTE TREASURE in my garden and is alway vigorous. I divided it in July (we've had a drought this year) and didn't do anything special to the pieces I put back in the ground. They look like they were never disturbed. Great plant - I highly recommend it!

ALL FIRED UP - Amazing plant. Even though I'm not fond of oranges, this is one of my favorite plants year after year. Great blooms, great foliage, great plant.

BLUEBERRY FROST - Almost tossed this one last year. I've had it for 3-4 years and it never did much. This summer, WOWEEWOW! Even though we had a pretty bad drought, BLUEBERRY FROST was an amazing performer.

RAINBOW EYE - much nicer now that I've moved it to a place where it gets some afternoon shade. In all-day sun, it has a tendency to scape-blast in my garden. I was going to get rid of all of it last summer - dug it and didn't do anything with it. Last December, I planted it in my garden (it had been on my back porch in a grocery bag since July) and said,"if you live, you live."
I told myself that I would sell it all at my Daylily Club's public sale (July 2007) if it lived.
It was so pretty in its new spot that it never made it to the public sale. :)

LAVENDER RAINBOW - What a great plant! Beautiful blooms, great plant habit. I love this one!

CHANCE ENCOUNTER - Lovely and vigorous.

LET LOOSE - I didn't think I would like Spiders - this one changed my way of thinking. I needed tall and yellow so I took a chance. It is currently the only thing blooming in my garden, although WILD AND FREE (Stamile), has put another scape. I love-love-love this plant!!

CERISE MASTERPIECE - I brought this one home from the Stamile garden last April. It is a magnificent plant. Tall scapes, large blooms, amazing color. It was the first plant I ever spent $150 for and I don't regret it for a nanosecond!

Just wanted to let you know that Musical Medley has done very well for me. I got it as a double fan in the spring of 2006 and it is up to 9 fans now. It has good branching and budcount for me and it rebloomed. The flowers are big and very ruffled.

The only negatives about it are that it doesn't look great at the end of the day and sometimes the flowers crowd each other a bit.

Hello - I have a passion for Stamile's pinks so I've read this post with interest. Living in Oregon I do not have a problem with rust so cannot comment on that, but do want to let you know that I've found all of my pink Stamiles to be sturdy, great bloomers with tall stout scapes and great increasers! Blue Pink Beauty & Magic Amethyst are my favorites:

I also have most of the Candys & have found them to be quite Winter & heatwave hardy, although they are slow increasers potted up here for me. I've also discovered that the Stamile plants are among the best pod setters I have! I think you are going to very happy you bought some!!
