Comments (2)Hello! I would agree that you should mimic your kitchen cabinets in style and color. The white will help to blend things in nicely. Also, try to match your hardware as well. The countertop idea of wood will look lovely! Open wood shelving is also very nice just like my photo below, BUT you can't clutter it. If you do, then don't do open shelving. It serves as more of a decorative piece than actual functional storage. That doesn't mean it can't be functional, but you want to put your pretty glasses here and a eye catching accessory like baskets or a platter or a pretty bowl. For the back drop I think that doing something fun like a wallpaper would be beautiful! Check out the other photo I have below....See MoreHow should I decorate? what color should I paint?
Comments (48)When I saw the kitchen, I had an immediate different thought than I see here. Is that formica? If so, I would replace it with new formica in a different color... This is not a major job, evidently. It comes with the backsplash and everything. You just order the length you need. Grey (as in one of the photos upthread)? Navy? Black? With the teal blue chairs, one or more of these colors on a countertop would be striking....See MoreHow Should I Decorate This Area?

Comments (23)I disagree that all your wood has to match. I kept asking my decorator about "matching" wood and she was flat out against it. Said it makes your house look like a furniture ad, and she didn't mean that in a good way. "Matchy-matchy" was her derogatory phrase LOL. Painting your walls, or some of them, would be a good way to bring some life to the room without adding dust-collectors. My vote would be for a soft watery blue-green-gray. For example the SW Sea Salt in this example. https://www.kylieminteriors.ca/8-most-popular-blue-green-paint-colours-mix-sherwin-williams-and-benjamin-moore/...See Moregraywings123
