Gardening in New Zealand

I just came back from a trip to New Zealand and Australia. I want to say that I'm a big fan of your countries. I found everyone friendly, helpful and just plain nice.

I took of tour of Dunedin and went to a park where there was a wonderful view of Dunedin and the harbour. There was a large planting of a beautiful flower. I'd love to know the name. Thanks for any help.

Thank you and yes floral I did tell him the pit should have been visible when he dug it. He said he had planted an entire pit as well as one that he had cracked and removed the seed from. I feed this fellow only as much info as he can absorb at one time and he is improving. I knew it certainly looked unlike my wild plums.

Spicebush was my first thought also. The bright yellow leaves are right for spicebush fall color as well as the overall branching and leaf shape.
