What are you doing this weekend??
Comments (9)I hate to fly but I've had an better trip with Virgin than on most airlines, due to their tv screens in each seat back and the relaxed (in a good way!) attitude of the flight attendants. Also, It's nice that you order food/drink from the same screen, on which it tells you what is free--not much, of course--and what will cost you something. I'd say go for it if the flight is a good price, Satine! I try to book my daughter-in-nyc-for-college on Virgin when she comes home to CA as it's the most pleasant to her as well. I hope you have a wonderful trip! I'm still in my pj's too and it's almost 11 here. I've been battling a bad head cold so am taking the day slow. I need to head to the p.o. to send dd2 her birthday box then get to some ironing done....See MoreWhat did you do this weekend? Aug. 6-7
Comments (11)Theresa, hope you get back to sewing soon. The rest of you were busy and got at least some sewing done. I am with Theresa...thought about sewing/quilting but got nothing done in that area. Saturday was cleanup day so not much else was done. DH and I did get to Tims for coffee/tea and a Fruit Explosion muffin. During the late evening DH went salmon fishing and caught 2 Atlantic salmon. Fresh salmon for supper this evening....looking forward to that! He was so pleased with his catch but we totally forgot to take pics. Sunday was a 50th birthday get together for my brain-injured brother....at the hospital. You could tell he was enjoying all the fuss although he did say he was home and later told me he was at a friend's house. He lives in the moment....a blessing for him, in a way, but difficult for the family to witness. He has very little short term memory. We had 18 family/friends show up with gifts and best wishes. Lots of pics taken and lots of chatter. This week I have promised myself I will get back to serious quilting and to watching my diet. I've been feeding my emotions and that is not a good thing...... lots of 'bad' food. ~Geraldine...See Morewhat are you doing this weekend OCT1&2
Comments (14)Rosajoe.........gonna be a really pretty quilt and I chuckled, because when I am doing some geometric designs, I do the very same thing, take the offending blocks out and re-do them (only to find out I put them back in the same way there were before I took them out). LOL. Really excited for the gals who are making the retreat. sigh. Maybe someday. This weekend? It's all over but the shouting. I finished a floor cloth I've been making for our front entryway in a design inspired from an historical floorcloth of that era. It's the first one I've ever made and I'm really satisfied with the results. I suspect I'll make more. It's not quilting, but playing with fabrics. I also layed out the rough draft for a sampler I am going to embroider from an old English nursery rhyme about wash days. I like to keep a project I can work on by hand when I don't want to sneak up to the sewing room. It drives home that pre Queen Victoria, the English weren't so prim and proper and it makes me laugh every time I read it. I figured it was time to start back into quilting after a few months hiatus. I have two QIPs. One just needs binding made and attached and the other, well each block is finished and I only need to add some sashing and sew the blocks together to at least get the top finished. It's paper pieced and it may take a trip out to be quilted because I learned that one can fall out of love with a quilt, just as easily as they fall in love with it. It's one of those 'what was I thinking"s....See MoreWhat are you doing this weekend?
Comments (23)I'm finishing the crown molding in my dining room to keep me busy, since I can't stop obsessing about my kitchen remodel that will start in less than 2 months! I custom built the box beams and installed new lighting in a previously dark dining room. Redhead- I try to end nearly every day with lighting of candles and opening the wine- it's the only way I seem to get through the stress of the planning phase! I'll probably have to stock up on the heavy stuff once the kitchen remodel actually starts! dretutz- cyber hugs to you regarding your mother. My 87 year old mother just got released from the hospital- it definitely changes perspectives to realize she may not be with us much longer....See Moreravencajun Zone 8b TX
