A couple days ago I got an email from friends saying "Guess what we found? Your phone!"

Now I once had a Samsung flip phone from Sprint. I really liked that phone. One day on a trip to a Botanical Garden with said friends I lost that phone. I was so bummed. Afterwards I called them twice asking if they were sure they had checked their van, I just knew it had to be in there. But it was like it had vanished. That was three years ago.

The husband was cleaning the van really well because he was trading it in for a new one. Yep, while shining a flashlight up under the seat, there was my phone wedged up in the mechanism. For three years. And they had cleaned that van many many times.

I was so happy. Because in the meantime I bought a Rumor phone with the touch screen and all that jazz and I hate the thing. Always have, never could get my fingers to swipe the right areas and you always had to unlock it before any function. My Samsung has a keyboard you punch and just the basics, with camera too.

Funny episode: I went to the Sprint store to transfer service from the Rumor to the Samsung. I complained to the guy that I hated all that swiping and touching icons. I saw the word "Contacts" on the screen. I started to tap it with my fingers, nothing happened. I asked the guy how to I get to my contacts. He said, you don't tap the screen anymore, there's a button for that. I was so embarrassed! ha ha

Funny. Glad you got your phone back. I recall trading in my phone for a different one, and they showed it to coworkers saying "Look at this dinosaur!". lol

That is very cool, and wonderful news that the phone "came back" to you! I personally don't believe that such occurrences are mere happenstance, but are careful orchestrations that overall fit into a bigger picture to serve a purpose. At the very least, your DH got his phone back and you got to meet a very nice woman. Enjoy the rest of your holiday!

bkay I still haven't been able to do this with consistency. I have contacted Houzz and was told they don't support the hosta forum,contrary to their claims. It is driving me crazy. I am back to my laptop and still have the problems with Houzz. Anyone else with old Theresa on this?

One time I left a special pillow with pillow case and remembered and we turned around fast and it was still there. But another time I had put my nightie on the bed and it got missed and remembered it and too late to return to the motel to get it and phoned and sorry, didn't see it, could have just been swept up with bedding or maid said hey, good nightie and took it. and that same time left nightie, I had left my summer jacket, only one I had and needed it on the ferry and my dad phoned and told them he would collect it and then he mailed it to me as I needed it. Have no idea what amount they would charge for mailing costs, no idea. I guess we all have to be more careful but when rushing out you do miss those things but to pay that amount unreal that is but then I guess too you have to go is that important to me? When you thought it may be in the car, did you try calling your own number? I even do that when home, looking for my mobile phone and uncertain where I left it.

Smartphones of both the Apple and Android varieties have apps that can be remotely downloaded (using a PC) that will show the phone's location using its GPS chip and can cause it to ring.

Oh my gosh, I never thought about calling my cell phone number! LOL I should have had my friends do that at the Gardens or even when they dropped me off at my house because I was so sure it was still in the van. They must not have thought of that either. Oh for crying out loud.

On the other hand, I did have it deactivated very soon afterwards.

Yes that is what I always do when I misplace my phone. Of course it won't help if you are one of those people who keep their phone on vibrate.

We also have what Elmer mentioned so that we can locate our phones through the computer or another Smartphone.

When I misplace the cell or the cordless phone I just call it, although the cordless has the option to push a button on the base and it'll ring the phone. Doesn't always work as was the case with a good friend of mine. He was mowing his lawn and when he finished he couldn't find his phone. Looked all over the house, garage, vehicles... Wasn't totally sure he had it on him when he was mowing. So he tried calling it. Nothing. Wandered around the yard dialing the cordless. Nothing. Then it hit him that he had it set on vibrate only. Now THERE is a challenge! So wandering around his rather large yard hitting redial over and over, hoping the cell battery isn't dead and finally he heard a buzz in the grass and there was the phone. At least he didn't hit it with the mower. This was back when the flip cells and bar phones were just becoming popular but were still hideously expensive so he didn't relish the thought of buying a new one and he needed it for business. But it ended happily and glad yours did also.
