One tile chair rail for bath wall and another for vanity mirror frame?

Hi,
We would like to use one older, scarce, out-of production, ornamental tile chair rail for the walls and shower of our bathroom, but use another readily-available, subtle, plain tile chair rail for the frame of our 48" vanity mirror.
The two chair rails would meet on each side of the mirror, so the differences between the two would be obvious.
Does anyone think this would look odd? We love the older out-of-production tile but we simply can't find enough to do both the walls and mirror frame!

Are you sure it's out of production? There are several tile companies manufacturing vintage-style tile. Please post a photo.

Don't have a photo at the moment but it is Keraben moldura petra bone chair rail. Several online retailers have it listed but I contacted them and they said they don't actually have it. Drove to Rhode Island to buy the last 2 boxes I could find.

ah, yes, I was kinda thinking such. I am on my own with this project as DH says "do what ever you like, it's all yours, baby"... which can be a bit of a curse. Would you go with just the solid surface backsplash (to match the vanity top) or do the tile accent? I can't believe the blessing that this forum has been. The kitchen forum saved me 5 years ago and the bath forum is doing it now. I have been reading/lurking here for @ 3 years now. We used travertine with an onyx border and onyx liner to 42"H on the wall above the vanity with a large mirror in the hall bath. No problems at all, and it looks very nice. IMHO, the 4" backsplash looks too small. Besides, sink splashes and toothbrush drips can easily pass over the 4" backsplash. BTW, have the granite guy caulk the countertop to the tile, matching the countertop, not the tile grout. It looks better. For our master bath, we're planning on using a 6" granite backsplash atop the granite countertop, rather than the wall tile atop the countertop. It's purely for a different look.

The length of the vanity is 60". I don't want a mirror the entire length of the vanity. The distance between the top of the vanity backsplash and bottom of the light fixture is 42". My original plan was to have a mirror made to center on the wall using a length of 48" and height of 36". Those dimensions include the frame. I think the dimensions are fine, but I'm concerned that het 2.5" frame necessary to support the weight of the mirror would be too overwhelming for the room. Perhaps that has more to do with mirror frame material than anything else. Various frame store staff have told me that the weathered woods I tend to gravitate towards for the frame are pine and aren't necessarily the stongest choice for supporting the weight of the mirror.

Two different size vanities creates a challenge. The mirror should be 2/3-3/4 width of vanity and approx as high as height of vanity. With 48” above vanity leaving 4-6” above vanity to clear faucets and any backsplash you probably need a mirror approximately 24-28” wide x 36” high. I will keep looking.

Did you choose Sinclair or Arras? I am looking at both for my kitchen floor and can't decide. I'm wondering if Sinclair has peachy undertone and if Arras is too much gold.

Why don't you do a wood or metal frame on your mirror. I have a chair rail in my bathroom and used a metal framed mirror. I was torn between getting a wooden one or metal.

mary5715, We went with the Sinclair. It is still being installed but it is darker than I thought it would be. Hopefully, once the ceiling is painted white and the protective plastic is taken off the the new window, the tile will appear lighter.
