LA's Original Farmers' Market and Monsieur Marcel

On Saturday, DH and I had to kill a day in LA and decided to check out the "Original Farmers Market" over by the Grove. Even though we lived in LA years back we had no idea it existed. For any of you nearby, it is worth a stop. It was more a combination of food/eating stalls and places to buy products but it was a cool place to walk through.

We fell in love with one of the stores - Monsieur Marcel. Had never heard of it and were very impressed - tons of products that I have never seen even at the more "gourmet" stores near me in South Orange County.

Tons of varieties of olive oil, vinegars, pasta, honey. You name it they seemed to have it. Cheese, wines, and on and on. Lots of imports we have not seen.

Apparently they also have a Santa Monica location.

I can't decide if it is good or bad that we don't live closer - I would do serious damage in there on a regular basis if we did.

For any LA folk, if you haven't checked either out before, you should definitely give it a shot. It was fun just to wander through.

And of course we ended up with a basket full - rosemary honey (they had honey varieties I have never seen), Italian win, tea, olive oil - alas we couldn't buy anything perishable!
