Please help with direction of new flooring that will be installed.
Comments (5)The upper floor looks like solid hardwood - can never tell for sure in a photo. If it is, you could have it refinished and it would be very pretty. Solid hardwood is usually installed perpendicular to the joist - so there is something strong to nail them into. The lower floor looks like laminate - which is not real wood. Laminate can be installed any way you want. If the new floors are solid hardwood, they too should be installed perpendicular to the joist. If they are laminate or LVP, it does not matter. Engineered can usually be installed any direction also. They still make the hardwood you have on the upper level. You can match it and refinish the old and have great "forever" floors. If you pull up the solid hardwood and replace with laminate or LVP, you will have replaced a high quality floor with a lower quality floor. Engineered is also, lifespan wise, a lesser floor than solid hardwood....See Moreplease help me pick out a coffee table!
Comments (11)Not allowed to paint wood wall unfortunately, I’m a renter. I’ve learned to embracing it lol. Who knew finding the right coffee table could be so hard? I need it to be about 17” in height and about 30” in diameter for a round table. So hard to find. I think I’m going to go round because of how square my couch is. Thanks for your ideas, I do appreciate it!...See MoreCoffee Table Shape and Size- Help Needed Please :)
Comments (1)I would like to see a rectangle there. You don't really have to worry about the chairs, because they have the table in between them. Pretty room!...See MorePlease help me with lighting and a coffee table!
Comments (70)So I was just about to post a new question here and was thinking about this thread and how so many of you wonderful humans took time out a few years ago (omg pre-pandemic!!) when I was redoing my one bedroom condo. I obvs have no idea if people continue to stay on this forum but I’m hoping at least a few people see this so I can say THANK YOU!! Long story to go along with the long years we’ve all faced from early 2020 to now, but short version is soon after I did “refreshed” my place, I moved out of the h*** that was condo living in DC amid the pandemic to stay with my folks in NC. And quickly decided I never wanted to move back to DC! So I sold my place!! And no, I do not regret for a moment the work I put into it bc (1) it looked awesome and (2) it sold within days of being on the market, at a price a tad higher than other places in my own bldg which I attribute to a bit of emotional response bc my condo looked FIRE. So thanks to everyone who made suggestions (even those I didn’t take!). I learned so much and have found so much more confidence in my ability to know what I like, how to ask for help, and most of all…not become overwhelmed with opinions!! I ask for them, but hey…people like different things, no biggie. Anyways, in case anyone is still around, thought I’d share a few pics of how it all turned out in the end. Happy spring everyone!...See MoreUser
