Here is a Free Program that can teach you: Plover. Sorry, this is the best I can do, myself, I'm horrible at typing! I don't know anyone who is a Stenographer and/or would be willing to teach. This program is supposed to be a pretty good Program, especially for free.

Thanks, bugspop. Have one guy in Chicago who cleaned my stenograph for me, but when he put the new thing where you put the ink,(name?) won't absorb the ink and can't read my notes. I worked for an attorney and went with him to take statements. Can't write worth a darn now because of the rheumatoid arhritis in my hands but love to take notes when I hear-things like the President's statement last night--but mostly church bible studies . (A little age there, you know.) I can still remember some shorthand. Barb

I know nothing about your particular machine, Barb...but it sounds to me like it's the ink source itself that needs some attention. If it's a ribbon...perhaps it's dried out...or stuck...as in not advancing. I've had a similar problem with an adding machine print out and discovered when I cleaned the print head that I successfully cleaned off all the ink buildup that was necessary for a dark print. Slowly...but surely...it's coming back to a readable state but it taught me a lesson...not to be so prissy about the cleanliness state of my equipment. It did, however, need a new ink source, as well.
