Name That Plant!

Need ID of magnolia

Can someone please confirm the ID of these 3 magnolias, note that these
pictures do not contain magnolia soulangeana which is deciduous and
sprouting some buds right now in my city. We are in early spring here. I
think one of them is magnolia coco while other is stellata and one
might be fraseri but not sure. I am in deep south with very mild winters
here.

Where are you situated geographically?

(and BTW not everyone here is a gentleman, possibly not even all the males ;-) )

#2 looks a lot like Magnolia grandiflora.

Did you just dig these up from somewhere? Did you plant seed? Were they given to you? Need more information.

Scale is a bit difficult to judge but I don't see anything that resembles Magnolia stellata.........which has a very small leaf for most mags.

Any guesses as to what will happen as it approaches the canopy of the honeylocust directly overhanging it? The magnolia is 5' high and the lowest branches of the honeylocust are about 8' high (you can see them in the first photo). Some possibilities: 1) the shade will stunt the magnolia and cause it to mostly stop growing before it hits the other tree's canopy; 2) the magnolia will grow into the honeylocust canopy; 3) it will grow outward toward the open light to the south, to get out from under the shade. The honeylocust is the neighbor's tree, but 30-40 percent of the canopy overhangs our yard. Typical for honeylocust, the shade is light and it leafs out late, so the magnolia does get some light from above as well as from the south. The law allows us to lop the honeylocust branches that overhang onto our side so long as we don't create a hazardous condition, but frankly I enjoy the shade from the neighbor's tree more than the Little Gem.

Specific horticultural selections of the more fragrant southern variety (var. australis) are evergreen under colder conditions. For instance 'Green Shadow' has been evergreen on the High Line in New York City, 'Henry Hicks' may be seen overwintering with nearly a full compliment of leaves in USDA 7, 'Ned's Northern Belle' - which originated in Ohio (USDA 4) - has been seen to retain leaves through sub-zero conditions until spring, 'Satellite' was not defoliated by -2 F in 2014-15 and evergreen 'Santa Rosa' is considered the hardiest M. virginiana cultivar of all.

@Dave, these are being sold at a nursery in another city in my province, the seller sent me these pics. Supposedly Not grown from seed, mostly from cuttings or layering.

@gardengal48 Do you think magnolia coco might be one of these, specially the first one?

I am in Lahore, Pakistan. My
city gets extremely hot summers from April till September. May June are
hottest dry summers mostly around 110F. Then monsoon in August and
September. Then mild winters in December and January around minimum 1C.
The plant was supposedly bought from USA last year. Some different guesses have been "Magnolia virgniana", "Magnolia tripetala" etc.

Oops yes i understand not all are males here so "Gents and Ladies" would probably do :)

I suppose that begs the question, "Are all the females here ladies?"

I'd say yes.
