Crazy it is. Till two weeks ago our range was 34 -50 or so. Now for the last week we have 52-85F. So , checking the extended forecast, I banked on it and planted some tomatoes, peppers, eggplants and beans. Actually it is more than HOT enough for those. I keep watering them as the weather is hot, dry and sunny. Good news is that extended forecast shows that there will be no near frost temps past our last frost date. I will do some transplanting and sowing tomorrow. ye all have a good season!

Happy Birthday DeeMarie! Tikanis - terrific to know what is going on. My BIL has severe sleep apnea as well. The sleep clinic put him on a device at night that delivers more oxygen and now he is sleeping much better, the snoring has calmed down a lot and my SIL is also enjoying a better nights sleep too. Nwroselady - stay the course. Your body is adjusting to it's new size. You may even hit a plateau. Don't despair, just hang in there. One step forward at a time. Keep the faith! I'm cheering for you. Probably more things around the house between cleaning, trying to unpack boxes into totes, plant some more seeds, transplant tomato plants into taller containers and of course laundry. Still trying to train that stuff to jump from the washer to dryer - no luck so far. And the dishes won't play either. I fill the sink and they just sit there too. Bad laundry, bad bad bad dishes. I'm eyeing up the cat - thinking of spraying him with endust and getting him to chase balls under the beds - he's giving me the evil eye...don't think I'll get him to participate on that one either. Especially you, Jan!((((hugs)))) Ladies, after I wrote the post about our friend Larry getting into MDACC, a friend of mine from BL called to invite me to join the Crosby Meltdown here in town. If you join, you're entitled to go to Curves free until the end of March, so I jumped at the chance to try out the place. We went this morning, I had my trial run-through and really enjoyed myself. The owner of the franchise told me that I could officially start tomorrow through the end of the Meltdown, then switch to a regular membership without the enrollment fees!!! I felt like my old self this whole morning, and I'm still pumped up from the workout! Jan, sometimes you're the bug, sometimes you're the windshield. Life doles it out randomly to all of us, and fortunately at different times, so we're here for you when you need us, and I doubt that I'm not alone in NEVER rolling my eyes about your posts. You need shoulders; we have them! Marci, you'll definitely deserve a night out with your hubby after Valentine parties for little ones. Halloween and Valentine parties were always the "hyper days" in my preschool classroom. MD Anderson is way far away in downtown Houston, and I'm a chicken about driving there, but I hope to get home early enough on Sunday for hubby and me to go see him if we're nice and healthy. I usually drop off a card and/or a little gifty at their home a couple of times a week instead. Larry has just caught so many things besides all the internal problems he's had with blood clots and renal failure that I haven't wanted to expose him to anything. Where is everyone lately? I know that Donna isn't feeling well and that Gretchen is busy, but where is Suzanne, BJ, Peggy, and Maddie? Check in, ladies! The weather here is crazy. I always think I've gotten used to the craziness and then it still surprises me when the weather spikes up much hotter than forecast or drops significantly lower than forecast....or it snows in April when the whole garden is already knee-high, or whatever. I joke a lot that we do have four seasons here (despite the common perception in some parts of the country that we are hot here all the time), but sometimes it seems like we get all 4 seasons in the same week and that's just not right! I want to have another 2002 again. We had nearly perfect weather....and it was like spring in June. My father-in-law was visiting from Pennsylvania in late May and our nights still were in the 40s and he was so disappointed in the weather---he was hoping it would be hot, hot, hot and it was cold all through May and into part of June. I loved it. Also, 2004 wasn't bad either, though there was a really hot period in the summer where the combination of heat and humidity was rough. Still, it was better than most summers. So far this spring is a lot like the Spring of 2011 (too warm or even hot too early) and also like the Spring of 2012 (lots of rain). It isn't good when it is this hot this early if the heat continues. We are getting a break for the next few days and I intend to make the most of it and get a lot done outside. Busy1, We're having a hard time keeping up on the mowing too. It doesn't help that Tim works all night and sleeps all day, so I don't like to mow during the time he is sleeping for fear the noise will wake him. It is hard for me to squeeze in enough mowing in the 1-2 hours after he wakes up and still have time to eat dinner (well, dinner for me while it is breakfast for him) with him before he leaves for work. Right now we are behind on mowing and if there are snakes in the yard around the house, we can't see them 'cause they're hidden in the grass. When we do mow, it is wet and clumps and comes out of the grass catcher as a big sodden mass of grass clippings. Bon, As dry as y'all have been, I'd be surprised if there was grass to mow. If we mow this morning, it needs to be mowed again in 2 days. It is making me crazy cause it is too wet to mow half the time. The wind has been awful. When we didn't have much strong wind in March, I knew we'd get it in April. Last year was the same way. I do have quite a lot of warm-season plants in the ground....some that I planted (tomatoes, beans, corn, squash, cucumbers, zinnias, petunias) and some that just popped up on their own (basil, verbena bonariensis, catnip, moss rose, ornamental peppers, etc.). All the perennial flower s are up and the perennial herbs already have formed huge mounds. Comfrey began blooming last week, which seems kinda early, but its been hot. It is odd to have cool-season plants like snapdragons, sweet alyssum, dianthus and larkspur) blooming at the same time as zinnias. Usually they are about done (except dianthus and sweet alyssum and sometimes snapdragons will repeat bloom until at least July if sheared back) before the zinnias even really get started. The cannas popped up out of the ground in either latest February or early March, froze back when in snowed in mid-March, and are up and growing like gangbusters again. Coral honeysuckle began blooming 2 weeks ago and the trumpet creeper is not very far behind. Again, it seems earlier than usual. It seems like the only thing we can expect anymore is constantly changing and unexpected weather.
