Signet, I was just guessing when I said Siloam so anything is possible. Siloam Doodlebug and Siloam Bumblebee look similar, but I think the yellow is too light. I did find some pictures of Little Bumble Bee and I think it definitely looks like a possibility. Some gardens list the height as taller than mine gets. Dave's Garden site lists it as 6-18 inches (quite a range) while Ollalie lists it at 24 inches. Mine is probably about 18 inches. Apparently Little Bumble Bee is not registered, so getting official stats is impossible.

I have lots of noids, mostly because when I was first collecting daylilies, I was not that concerned about the name and also because many of the gardens I visited were not sure of the names either. I have a lovely one I bought many years ago that I labeled Joy Lane for several months because the lady I bought it from had it labeled that way in her garden. When I could not find it in any data base, and I had one of my own to bloom that was identical, I realized she had labeled Jolyene Nichole as Joy Lane! However, I do have a few I would like to ID.

Lilykate, your noid with the fat yellow edge looks like one I just ordered, Spectral Elegance, 2002, the stats match. What do you think?

Sherry, I think that is too new and I do not recognize the name as one I bought. I think if someone IDs it correctly, I will just go "Duh, of course that's it" and remember the name!! If Spectral Elegance performs as well as this one, you are in for a treat!!

Nancy, your first one may be Katherine Marin. You have only the one picture, but as with all NOIDS, more than one picture helps. Color can vary, especially if the shot is an early morning one. I would agree with Debbie that Sherry's last red is probably Chicago Ruby or at least one of the Marshes.

Brad , another possible id for your #6 daylily is Jersey Spider.

Signet, there is obviously a lot of confusion about this daylily. The name 'Little Bumble Bee" is not registered with the American Hemerocallis Society, which is the international registry. There is a 'Bumble Bee', but the picture in the database does not match my plant, nor does the description. The picture also does not match the ones in the National Gardening Association's database (they look more like mine).

I realize that the picture in the AHS might have been added at a later date (not by the hybridizer), but the description says it's yellow with a rose eyezone. A nursery currently has Little Bumblebee (which looks like mine) on the Lily Auction. They say it's an unregistered Klehm from 1981.

Mantis, I think you might be on to something about Katherine Marin. I will watch it this summer. Hopefully, it will have matured enough to see how tall it's going to be. When we got it, the fan was no bigger than a seedling so it's got some catching up to do.

Sorry the daylily linki sent was for Bumble Bee ( No Little in the name ) however AHS has a different image than does All Things Plants so, you are right , there is something rotten in Denmark .

Debbie, James Marsh is the best match so far for my red, I know mine is an older cultivar.

Laurie, I checked out Carolispider and I'm still not convinced, I will keep a closer eye on all the blooms next season to make a better judgement.

Sherry When I initially looked at Fresh Look on the AHS website, the picture didn't seem similar. However, after your suggestion, I researched further and now have found other photos of Fresh Look, that do look like my noid. There are so few listed that tick my boxes, Fresh Look is certainly the closest. There isn't any other double that is even remotely close. I have never seen this plant listed anywhere in Canada, it certainly is a good one.

Here is my NOID. It was supposed to be ROGER HERR. The person I traded with for "ROGER HERR" had no what this one was. He did send the correct plant, I hope, this past fall. I don't have any stats on it except that it is a tet and the bloom is 6-6.5 inches. Any suggestions to put me in a direction would be helpful.

I had a couple of NOIDS id last year thanks to this forum. I have one NOID that is still a mystery though. It is an older daylily for sure, blooms mid-late season, a great multiplier, about 5 1/2 inch blooms, not sure of exact height but probably 24-26 inches. It has a nice blending of colors. Not a fancy daylily but very hardy.

Debbie, I think you are right: #8 looks like and the stats are right on for Santorini Sunset! Signet, I don't know about #6 being Jersey Spider. Mine is shorter and smaller, plus JS was hybridized in 73 and I think I got it before that. But thanks!

DebbieON.....I think you are correct.....it certainly matches the stats of Bicentennial Queen. Thank you for suggesting it and helping to solve the mystery! I never ordered it....it was a freebie....but I never knew it's name. It is a simple, older daylily that has great garden habits so it has remained. It continues to bloom into the late season when color is so welcome.

Thank you all for your comments about the Moldovan seedling. Some qualities it has that I couldn't capture in the photos are that the edges have diamond dusting and glisten like crystals in the sunlight. Also, the substance of the bloom is amazing.... a very thick texture to the flower as if it were molded from wax. It holds up well in the heat and never has any opening issues in cold weather. The bloom sometimes becomes a bitone in warmer temps. It is semievergreen, the scapes are about 28 inches tall, blooms 6 inches, is an early-midseason bloomer. Another great feature (especially here in the North) is it often re-blooms. Last summer, even in the midst of our extreme drought, it rebloomed in September. Only three of my hundreds of daylilies rebloomed so I was impressed.

Oh, and I almost forgot to add that it has decent bud count here in zone 4. I would say about 15 buds per scapes on average.

Debbie, thanks for suggesting JKO. What a great eye you have. I think it may very well be. I did order that one several years ago. As I said, I will need to go through mounds of orders but I think you are very correct. Celeste, I like your seedling also. Doesn't have to have a name to be beautiful, does it?!!! Like my yellow one, I know there are a million bazillion yellow lilies out there....but I still like it as one of my faves in the garden when it blooms. Like Sherry's noid..just lovely even if we don't know the name!!

Peren.all .......ooooh maybe it is . I got it from a friend and she didnt know what it was either . So middendorffii is a very early daylily then ? Is it by any chance fragrant ? this one is fragrant but not lemony smelling like Flava. It would be so cool if that is what it is .

I haven't been on in a while, so much catching up to do. hoosier nan-the first thing I thought when I saw that one photo was my Little Bumble Bee. The scapes stand well out of the foliage & the flowers are tiny, the smallest of any mini I've seen. I don't care for minis very much, but I really like this one.

Many of these look familiar, but I suspect if I go back & read more completely, my thoughts have already been suggested. Some lovely flowers here. Lilykate-hope you ID that last yellow. Yellow always seems like such a common color I avoid it, but I REALLY like the looks of that one.

Most of my photos are on photobucket, the last I tried this forum didn't seem to work with it. I'll be taking lots of photos this year I guess.

Celeste: I haven't read all through the comments but try SEA GOLD for your first one you can't identify. I had the exact same one years ago. It is an oldie but goodie.

peren.all the dark ribs on the outside of your yellow noid looks like my SPECIES DAYLILY DUMORTERII but I see you say it is not dumorterii . The only other one I have ever seen with this kind of marking is Sir Blackstem Ht 24" Dip Ev. E. Re. Bl: 2.5" Dark yellow blooms with near-black stems and buds.

i have one more I hope someone might recognize . This is an old one .......I have had it for 30 odd years but never knew her name. She's about 36 inches tall and although this doesn't seem to come thru in the image the plant itself looks like velvet and the color is more true red than pinky red as seen here

signet unfortunately upon further reading middendorffii is too tall for yours and middendorffii var. longibracteata is too short. Now if those two were combined....

signet I wish it were Sir Blackstem (love the dark scapes). What do you think about 'Corky'? The problem is that pics are all different looking, some show Corky as being quite orangey like mine and others show it as lemon yellow. I saw a pic of 'Aurantica' that looked similar too.

I have one more I forgot. It is a 10" flower, 30"tall and a profuse bloomer! It and Rob Cobb make quite the show in the back row, both being big an tall.

Brad I think it sure looks like Euro-mazing. Photos at Dayliliesonthepond really look like it, and several other sites, including the auction. I had read somewhere that it was a 9 inch flower with a 12 inch wingspan, wow! What do you think?

You are most welcome . What made me think it might be your noid is the edges on the blooms and the pistol and stamens look similar....the fact that it is a bitone and it sure looks like yours . When I saw the pic on the website, I seriously did a double take . You mentioned it came from someone who's family had it for a long time (Opera Elegance is registered in 1978 so that fits too ) and it is a tet.

Another possibility is a daylily named Passion's Promise check it out here http://www.fairyscapedaylilies.com/Seedlings/Passion's%20Promise.htm  .......also 32 inches tall similar colors, a tet, and similar shape but I am not sure but something tells me that Opera Elegance is the one closest to what you have .

Another possibility is Bitsy, It is a yellow bloom with the darkish stripe on the outside of the bloom .

Sarah Thank you for your suggestions. Scratch and Sniff may be too tall and Sweeping Shadows is too big a flower. Now Rebecca Marie is closer, and its parent Double Pink Treasure seems close too. I bought the plant from a lady around 2005, so my daylily is probably from the 80s, as here in Canada, especially at that time, only older cultivars were available. I'm sure it isn't an obscure one. I bought Peggy Jeffcoat at the same time. But the further you go back the less photos with the registrations to compare, darn. I'm waiting for spring to determine if it is Dormant or SE. For lack of better photos, Rebecca Marie and Double Pink Treasure seem closest. Thank you.

Another possibility is the daylily Bitsy. It too has the brownish stripes on the backside of the bloom.

I had looked at Corky as a possibility but due to such a variance in photos I couldn't be sure. The pic on the site you provided looks identical. Will double check the stats this year but it looks like you nailed it! Thanks again!
