Roof color question...not sure what color to pick

I need to replace my roof in the near future and am not sure what color to pick. The issue is that at some point in the next five years i will be changing the siding as well.

Currently the house is a brown and well will probably go with a sage green siding in the future. We are also currently redoing the windows and they will have a white frame. I was hoping to find a roof that works okay with the siding now but would also be okay with the sage green in the future.

First picture is of my house the second is just for future siding color. I was thinking of going with a Charcoal colored roof but just not sure.

I will be going with GAF Timerbline HD shingles if it matters.

I have news that might take away some of the indecision about choosing roof colors. Lay a large color sample of sage green onto/next to various charcoal shingles. I believe you see most"work togeather",some better than others. Why? look very closely at granules in shingle and you will notice there's actually many different colored granules that collectivily when viewed from afar,appear as charcoal. While you are at it,compare various gray shingles the same way and I believe gray will "work with"even better. This is no accident ,shingle manufactures employee the finest color consultants to be found to see that their shingles look good on a variety of homes. If you found that to be fun,visit a ceramic tile showroom to see how different grout colors change the eye's perception of tile color.

I’ve had my eyes on this roof myself for a couple of months now. I really think that it would look great on a white house. If it's still difficult to decide, you can play safe and get a grey shingle roofing. I feel like it would look good on any house.

I was actually thinking of painting the shutters white, too, after I saw a picture of a green house with white shutters and it looked very nice. We also were going to close up the gable vents (the roof will have a ridge vent so we shouldn't need the gable vents, and bats like to hang from them and make a mess on the siding). I was thinking I could do some kind of accent siding in place of the gables, in some sort of color or even a stained wood type color (if the shutters were white).

Wow...that is weird. The second one looks purple-ish. Also, the top one looks very different than the brick in the pic of the house. If the brick is closer to the brown in the top pic, it seems you need a roof color that will work with the warm tone. It could clash with a roof that's a cool gray shade. I'm just basing that on how the brick shows on my screen.

Thanks Trees! I found a neat little roof visualizer app. After seeing the two, I am really leaning towards the charcoal. I found a house in my development with a similar color scheme and a black roof and I like it a lot!. That's why I love Houzz! New roof is scheduled for this Thursday. Is this the main street view of your home? The reason I ask is that your roof is practically invisible, which is a bit freeing. That said, I agree with Team Mid-tone grey/charchoal. The gray family is MUCH easier to work with going forward and even now, the shutters on your house seem to have an almost blue undertone to their blackness. Dark Walnut won't be bad, but eliminating brown from the mix would be better. One proviso about mid tone grays. The lighter the colour, the more obvious the undertone.
