Yes but my concern is once its up there will just appear to be black, which may be to dark.

When picking a roof color for a home I like to play it safe. It's a long term piece of your home, and you want it to go with not just your color scheme today, but one in the future where your tastes change or for someone else to change in the future. I would never go with a brown shingle, as it is pretty limiting. I always try to select a medium to dark gray as it goes with everything-

I agree, medium to dark gray. Light gray shows staining and never seems to look good long. I do like the Dark Walnut also. It would go very nice on your house.

Is this the main street view of your home? The reason I ask is that your roof is practically invisible, which is a bit freeing. That said, I agree with Team Mid-tone grey/charchoal. The gray family is MUCH easier to work with going forward and even now, the shutters on your house seem to have an almost blue undertone to their blackness. Dark Walnut won't be bad, but eliminating brown from the mix would be better.

One proviso about mid tone grays. The lighter the colour, the more obvious the undertone.

I know you can't go by what you see online. The Black Walnut you posted here looks much lighter than this one on Tamko's site.

For the most part yes this is the view. House is up on a hill, so you really don't see the roof until coming up the driveway. Shutters are a forest green. The color next to dark walnut is rustic black, which is very dark. The gray family I have looked at but couldn't find anything we could agree on. Thanks for the advice will keep looking.

The available colors change per region, so I just picked the Midwest.
