Opinions on these roses....
Comments (12)I'm the same as you Rosefolly, I just really enjoy seeing them in the garden. Besides, my cat would most likely eat them. What I ended up doing is placing one early spring order of what Pam has available now, and then in late spring/summer she's going to hold the varieties for me as they become available and then ship those together. My early Spring order is: Francis Dubriel - gallon Petite Pink Scotch - gallon (suppossed to be a very large gallon) Mistress Bosanquet - quart Mme Scipion Cochet - gallon and I asked about Austins, and since she said she had a very large qt of Mary Magdeline, I ordered that too (why not!) Late Spring I'm waiting on these to be big enough to ship: KPV Scepter'd Isle Blue Boy (centerfolia/moss hybrid I've been wanting!) Mlle Blanche Lafitte Then, I didn't realize Ornement des Bosquets is a European import, so I'm on the 2013 wait list for that one...something to look forward to! I already have two German import rugosas on the wait list (Wild Fox & Wild Eagle)...See MoreOpinions on celebrity roses, good and bad
Comments (6)This is a great idea for a thread!!! I'm going to learn lots from this. Doris Day is one I had thought strongly about getting. But, if it has small blooms, meh. Dolly Parton - one I've thought strongly about getting...but maybe not so much now. My celebrity named roses are: Gina Lollobrigida - Lovely deep yellow rose. No fragrance. Grew backwards on me. But it was beautiful!! Wouldn't get it again, because there was no fragrance. Neil Diamond - no fragrance so far...barely blooms. So far wouldn't get it again. Going to give it another year. The McCartney Rose - love, love the fragrance! Blooms withstand rain/wind. Not a lot of blooms - but next year is its 3rd year...expecting better things! Such a bright, happy rose. Julio Iglesias - loved the fragrance - but it grew backwards on me too. Here's a picture of it at its best. Lucille Ball - Love this rose so far. Lovely color, blooms a fair bit (newish rose), and has a strong perfumey perfume. Princess Alexandra of Kent - Love this rose - tons of lasting flowers which are packed with petals!!! So far fragrance hasn't come in, but it's a new rose this year. Betty White - Love this rose!!! Tons of flowers. Thrips bothers this rose badly - but...with the oiled cups, the problem is solved. Lovely fragrance!! Carol...See MoreOpinions on Countryside Roses!!

Her roses were great and she was a joy to work with. Her recommendations were always spot-on for hot, humid climates....See MoreIs Princess Caroline of Monaco a climber? Opinions about this rose?
Comments (13)Tiffany, when I tie my PCDM canes horizontally to the trellises, she produces nice long straight laterals, perfect for cutting. Keep in mind that this really is a rose meant for cutting, as it fades pretty fast in the sun. It is after all, a florists rose. I really don’t mind this too much, as I purchased it,(and then a second one) strictly for cutting. Her scent is amazing, and I actually prefer it over Evelyn’s. When I just let her grow untrained, she grows straight up, with blooms at the very tops. Sometimes there’s a single bloom at the top of a 10’ cane, sometimes there’s a whole cluster of them. That’s not a typo, I have some ramrod straight canes right now that are AT LEAST 10F high! I’ve been really behind on things in the garden lately. Also, the bugs were so terrible that I didn’t want to encourage any new growth, just to have it eaten up. They are finally calming down now, so no more worm eaten, thrippy buds:) Hallelujah! I know I just posted this photo on the Seasonal Thread, but here it is again. I just bent and attached this cane to the trellis this morning for the photo. Lisa...See Morenippstress - zone 5 Nebraska
