I'm having the same issue with my peace lily and the white millipedes. I live in a basement apartment and the plant is thriving with the current watering regimen but the millipedes in there creep me out! My apartment doesn't get a lot of sunshine for lack of windows so the plant is in a shady area which causes the soil to stay pretty moist for a long period of time. I literally wet my plant every two week because that's when the top soil gets alittle dry. Please help! I love this plant! It's the first one that's growing so beautifully with me. I even repotted it with fresh soil and tried to get rid of all the old soil but I'm seeing the insects more at the top since I've done that.

Crashed - grrrr. Let's try this again. I, too, have several O.Fragrans that don't appear to be fragrant. Mine are over 3' tall now and took rooted to pull up. Besides, I wouldn't want to, just in case that when they start blooming that they are fragrant. Background: When I took my Master Gardener class 2 years ago, I asked about the 4 O. Fragrans that I have. They had started blooming and I was starting to get concerned. I asked about their fragrance. The instructor that day (from the best horicultural college we have here in Texas - Texas A&M), said that there is ONE variety that is NOT fragrant. It made me so mad that I wanted to come home and rip them up. Of course, you know they take a VERY long time to grow. So, I decided to wait and see... I just saw some blooms on one, but couldn't smell a thing. I'm wondering... shouldn't it have been detectable or does it take a profussion of blooms? I'll leave them, but I'm not happy. LIke you, I have ordered one, O. Fudingzhu, from Nurcar, just before you did. But, I haven't seen any blooms or smelled the fragrance yet. Looks like we might both be frustrated. Oh well, at least, we have the guaranteed one from Nurcar. Xtal

Even though it is no longer in print and a few years old, "The Fragrant Year" by Helen Van Pelt Wilson and Leonie Bell is one of the treasured gems in my personal library. Your public library should have this book on the shelf or they can obtain it for you through the inter-library loan system. A second method of approach is to search the Plant Finder section of the Kemper Center for Home Gardening at the wonderful Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis. Of course, as noted above by several folks, "fragrance" is dependent upon a considerable range of factors. One early summer, all of my old-fashioned roses came into bloom within several weeks of each other and because of the climate, weather conditions, etc., the whole garden - I was then living in Peoria - smelled like a wonderful perfume factory in bloom. At other times, one had to draw close to smell the same roses. 4. If you live in northern Illinois - around the Chicago area, you have the chance of visiting the Chicago Botanic Gardens; the Morton Arboretum and its wonderful Sterling Morton Library, and if you don't mind the drive, the Boerner Botanical Gardens in Hales Corners, WI - just SW of Milwaukee. About Jaqueline...as the flower ages, it takes on a snickers bar smell. Very sweet carmel scent. The plant is a fairly tall and fast grower. But I am very impressed with the thickness and the sturdiness of the branches it produces. Very unplumeria like. It's a white flower, about three inches wide, with a very prominent yellow throat. First inflo this season easily produced over thirty flowers. Right now I have three more developing inflos that are much larger than the first.
