I just ordered the basic RCS 36' it's going to take 3-4 weeks before I receive it so I can't say for sure that the heated door issue has been fixed, but I was told by several salespeople as well as a BS expert that the heat issue on the door has been addressed in the newer models. The doors now have double insulation, and you can see that on the double lined vents in the door. I'm really hoping that this is the case as I have a small child a hot oven door--no matter what oven--is a problem. I will update this if it turns out that the issue hasn't been addressed, but I trust what I have been told verbally and don't think I'll need to update this post.

After seeing the ad on tv for nuvoh20, started research and found this site - read all the posts and have questions, but first, please know: 1) I have a well which produces horrible hard, visible grains of something which is filtered out by a well filter which has to be changed several times a year. The water produced has passed, repeatedly, the Dept of Health's water testing. 2) I have a septic tank which has to be pumped out once a year. 3) I have a Culligan Model 474 which is two years old - it replaced one that was 8 years old. 4) The Culligan has to be reprogrammed every time the electricity "blinks" - there is no battery back up for the programming even though this thing cost over 1200 dollars and the electricity "blinks" quite often out here. Reprogramming requires standing in a cold pump house, holding a flash light, the instructions and repeatedly pushing one button to get to the right place, then the second button to "select" then back to the first - several times until the thing is programmed. If, for some reason,I am unable to do this, I must pay an 85 dollar service call for someone to come out and I must wait all day for him to show up. 5) I am old and frail and salt comes in only 40 pound bags. I can still lift them, with large effort but foresee the day when I won't be able to. Takes, on average - two of these bags a month - which now cost 6.98/bag at Walmart. 6) I have a new, high end Kitchenaide diswasher with a stainless steel interior - within two weeks the "stainless" was covered with an ugly, streaky film that no amount of scrubbing would remove. 7) I read that running the dishwasher, empty, after putting a package of lemon koolaide in the soap dispenser would solve my problem. IT DID. The stainless interior looks nice again but, of course, will have to do it every couple of weeks. QUESTIONs: 1) if the Nuvoh20 system is bad science and does not work - why did the package of Kooaide work to remove the film in the dishwasher? 2) is there any other option for conditioning water (won't say "softening") in such a way that I don't get this white, filmy, yucky buildup on every surface touched by water in my house that will not require me to have to live with Culligan monster and heavy bags of salt?

I'm wondering if that setup has the same problems that sodastream has, mainly if your stuck with buying the gas from them and how much pressure the system has. When I was looking at Sodastream I read that they have a massive, like 1000% markup on the carbon dioxide and it only has a PSI of under 20, instead I went to home brewing websites and bought a carbonation setup. Basically you get a tank, a two stage regulator and a Carbonator lock that you screw onto a regular 2 liter bottle. It costs a little more then a sodastream, but seeing how I only pay $14 for ten pounds of CO vs the sodastream where for that price you only get ounces of the gas, I've made back my investment long ago. Also, I've gotten spoiled at using around 50 PSI, now when I drink store bought seltzer it feels almost flat, oh and you can make your own champagne too!

I recently engaged in this type search. I could find no real info on the Grohe blue & decided I probably should buy a filter from a filter company. Originally I liked the everpure because it looked simple, but their cartridges are $. I ended up looking in Consumer Reports and they were not very favorable on the everpure. They liked the multipure best for under counter. We have good quality water to start with, but my wife wanted to be sure, so I bought the aquaverse. It is sitting in a box right here next to my desk, we should have cabinets this week. I am not sure I like how it comes apart to change the filter, but I have built a hinge assembly so it can swing out through the door I hope(will know for sure once I get the cabinet). It looks to me like I will probably spill water every time I change the filter. Bottom line is I can only tell you CR rated the multipure very well. I am suspicious of a company that sells via MLM, but they originally shipped the wrong version and sent the additional parts out right away.
