Comments (36)Probably beating the dead horse again, but I would like to emphasize the fact that price you are paying for your house consist of the two major components: house itself AND the land. While IDENTICAL dwellings value (replacement cost or appraised value for insurance or mortgage purpose) could fluctuate for up to 20% in a different parts of the country due to the different cost of labor or logistic reasons, the land component will vary very widely, thus making simple price comparison practically impossible. For example, Pulte Homebuilders selling brand new 1587sf, 2BR/2BH duplexes in Newington, CT for $315,500. Roughly at $200/sf. http://www.pulte.com/homefinder/model.asp?commOrg_acctCode=2718&plan_acctCode=52158 The same Pulte selling brand new 1551sf, 3BR/2.5BH single-family houses for 155,000 in Atlanta, GA (as close to AL as they built). Roughly at $100/sf. http://www.pulte.com/homefinder/model.asp?commOrg_acctCode=2626&plan_acctCode=41449 Does labor and materials would cost them 130k (315k-155k =160k less 20% profit) more to built in CT? No, but land will. At the same time, in a same GA, for the same 315k they will sell you a 3335sf, 5BR/4BH classic traditional two-story house. Roughly at $90+/sf. Point is that even selling houses below $100/sf builders do make money on a construction side of the business and anything above that is simply pass-alone cost of the land aquisition. BTW, if original poster is still interested, Newighton's community might be of interest, though it's twice more expensive than she was looking for. Link is below. Comments (25)I've always wondered when the word "disrespect" became a verb? Wasn't baby Bush also responsible for "misinformation" rather than calling it what it is: a BIG FAT LIE? It's funny how basic speech can be used to the point where only someone with competent deductive understanding can "get" what you say? I work with a whole lot of gutter snipes in what's supposed to be a 4-star restaurant. The black bras under white oxford shirts was hard enough for the management to address. Then the thongs would pop out over the waist bands when these [ahem] ladies squatted to pick something up. Yes, squat. The other day several were going on loudly about, well, sex. How someone was [how do I say this?] sexing someone else when they should be sexing themselves. This included all kinds of gestures, pelvic thrusts, double and triple negatives, and (stop me) so on. I picked up my stuff and as I walked by I said, "Girls, no one would ever accuse you of being ladies now, would they?" One person laughed out loud and walked away. It took a good long discussion for the other four, a lot of head shaking, a lot of posturing, then one by one a few heads turned towards me in the dining room. "Whatchu mean bydat?"...See MoreTamoxifen
Comments (11)I am doing ok, have some after effects from the chemo, radiation and being "fluffy" but surviving is wonderful. Thanks for asking. I pop in periodically and post a bit, but I am not as active as I used to be. I have been busy making crocheted breast forms for women with mastectomies. They are done free for women and I have been sending them all over the world. Lots of fun! Comments (60)I thought I had made the point that Balancing Humors was a traditional medical practice that was used for hundreds of years. It was bogus and fraudulent and yet many people were cured and lived to die of advance old age. In fact if you had no treatment at all most people who havent gotten some sort of cancer, bacteria or lethal virus and started in reasonable health (not half starved) would survive most things. That is why wrapping a potato peeling wrapped in linen around your wart and then burying it under a rock during the right time of the moon cures warts. Warts are self limiting so anything tended to cure warts. There are hundreds of cures for warts. We want what we have been treated with to be cures but most of the time we would have gotten better anyway. Living as we do in a world of good food and clean water most of us are destined to live to fairly old age. I did not figure amongst that most as I had a terminal cancer that was successfully treated. Was it the surgery or that plus the hocus pocus Chemotherapy and radiation I had? I dont know. But I do know that that cancer(ovarian cancer) is now much more curable than it was when I was diagnosed. Something changed and it wasn't the improved surgical techniques. That is science and I am sticking with it....See More- 9 years ago
