Chicken is simmering on the stove. I will make some chicken noodle soup with some of it this evening. That combined with a slice of toasted garlic bread.

omg..have this awful cold...so heard dh prowling around the kitchen this am...well he'd taken the stew meat and veggies I had bought and made a GREAT BEEF stew...it was sooo good after taking cold meds and sneezing all day...and leftovers besides! he used chicken broth (lol) then added 2 packets of onion soup mix...not bad at all....

Dungeness crab, sour dough bread and artichokes. Can't wait for dinner!

I went out to dinner. Had a turkey burger with onions and mushrooms.

Nice hubby, Susan! We had a casserole from the freezer....vermicelli, asparagus, mushrooms and shrimp in a white sauce with sherry. I was busy today making hors de oeuvres for my wine and dine group on Wed. night plus grocery shopping and a little cleaning upstairs. Love that freezer!

Shirley, I love beans and ham. I don't think I have a day next week where I can make a pot, but soon. Simple dinner tonight, DH is roasting a very large potato to share and cooking a couple of steaks. He's using the grill outside, I'm in the kitchen making a blackberry dessert for half time tomorrow. To be eaten down the street at a neighbors, not here. Our host for the game is making clam chowder and his chowder is wonderful. His grandmothers recipe and he doesn't share it! Not especially thick, more of creamy broth base.

Had dinner with daughter and her family--steak on the grill, roasted potatoes, asparagus and steamed broccoli. Very good.

Dinner was boneless skinless chicken thighs with a garlic balsamic marinade done in the oven, quinoa, also garlic seasoned and a mix of cauliflower, carrots and broccoli as a side. Chocolate pudding for dessert

We visited a butcher shop-cum-restaurant for the first time and they carried blood sausage, boudin noir. DH adores boudin noir and it's now hard to find with one of the leading old-time delis having packed it in and closed up, another victim of rising rents (the bad side of gentrification).

We picked up that, a pound of merguez, and a massive prime rib roast for Super Bowl Sunday. DH had one of the boudin noir for breakfast with eggs yesterday, and decided the remaining two would be good with buttered noodles.

So that's what he got for dinner today, along with buttered spinach. I'm not fond of either boudin noir or buttered noodles, so I used my share of the noodles to dump into a cheese sauce (two types of Cheddar, Gruyere and Mozzarella) with some spicy linguica and leftover white corn. I'm a sucker for pasta in a cheese sauce, even though it aggravates my asthma.

I have to admit, though, that boudin noir is pretty good, so far the best one I've tasted. Very well-balanced spicing, and a slightly firmer texture than the brand we used to buy. We'll definitely be stopping by that vendor again and trying more of their products.

Leftover Chinese from last night! Still delicious! Tomorrow night, I'm fixing a NYTimes recipe for pasta with parsnips and bacon. I've fixed it before and it's fabulous!

I am SO not a cook but I feel I can contribute to this thread tonight! I made a simple beef stew and we loved it. Nothing fancy, comfort food, makes the house smell wonderful!

Beef stew meat as labeled in the grocery store (I am not interested in buying a roast and cutting it up), medium onion, potatoes (I used the small red ones, just scrubbed but not peeled), l lb. bag of baby carrots, 2 cans of green beans, can of tomato soup, salt & pepper.

Put everything in a big pot, stir, put in oven. Done.

There's just the two of us. My idea of cooking is to make a large pot of food so I can coast for a few nights while we eat the leftovers.

I went to a get together potluck where the theme was Asian/Chinese hot pot. We brought various ingredients, made broths and sauces, and had a wonderful, (and filling) time!

These threads are always a favorite of mine. I adore the creativity, including that from those who don't like to cook.

Kessala, many years ago, I was the primary caregiver for my father-in-law (I was divorced from his PEFAHB [poor excuse for a human being] son. His favorite meal was baked chicken with rice that was cooked in tomato soup. ;-)

We're going to a small family gathering to watch the Super Bowl commercials. A few will watch the game too, lol. Sisters will provide ham, broccoli salad, chips, drinks, and I hear there's a special cake for dessert! I'm trying a new recipe for "anadama bread rolls" ... and dear husband is at the store picking up a tube of biscuits in case they don't turn out! Oh, and we'll have tater tots and buffalo chicken bites as a special game-day treat.

I am embarrassed to post what I ate yesterday after reading about all the delicious meals....but when I went to town to pick up food for the animals, I went to Dairy Queen and got a chicken strip basket. I had some microwave popcorn before I went to bed. Jody wasn't home, so I didn't cook. I am leaving now to go grocery shopping. He said he is coming home and wants some snacks for watching the super bowl. ;)

And marilyn_c, I absolutely love the chicken strip basket from DQ. It would be on the top of my list alongside a scrumptious steak dinner at a first class restaurant. Ahhhh, diversity.

We have BBQ baby back ribs, salt and pepper steak fries, mustard potato salad for him, hot pretzel bread rolls and butter. I got some new BBQ sauce and it's very good. Made by Kroger brand and its their Carolina inspired sauce. I was using it to dip fries in it. We like mustard and vinegar bases sauces and this one is a keeper. I usually go for the sweet baby Ray's which is a good one too.

By the way that fly over was real for us! Cool.
