Scott, you probably should get a throat swab to check for Strep throat. It's a common cause for a swollen uvula and if you do have strep and it's untreated, it can lead to rheumatic fever and its complications. Maybe you just have a virus, but best to get a swab done to be sure. Hope you feel better soon!

That sounds awful. I used to get strep throat when I was young...like in my 20's. I ran a very high fever with it. I'd see a doctor, Scott. You don't want that to get worse. I recall having a fever of 104 when I had it. Hope you feel better soon.

Scott..in what way is it hard to breath? Do you mean hard to breath thru your nose or hard to breath as in your struggling to actually get oxygen into your lungs..if its the latter than you really need to get to the hospital for a breathing treatment.

I agree with getting a strep culture done, strep is going around like crazy.

I had both boys to the doc yesterday, no strep they just had thst a few weeks ago. Now its sinus and ear infections.

I saw THIS on someone's facebook feed a little while back. I'm not sure if it applies to what you are feeling. It's a sinus/throat lymphatic massage. You massage and do some tapping to help relieve or prevent a sore throat. It looks interesting and maybe it will help.

When one is sick, it's best to either call ones doctor or go to an ambulatory walk-in clinic, not post online for advice. I prefer to get my medical advice from a professional.

I have a small chicken simmering on the back of my stove, and will be fixing good old fashioned home made chicken soup, If you lived close by, I would bring some to you, and then take you to a clinic, I agree with the others, please see a doctor asap.

I am sick too. Head cold. My whole face hurts. Can't breath, and mouth feels like cotton. Earlier I went to sleep and woke up drenched in sweat. So hopefully the old body is doing its thing fighting this bug off.

Mama - Garlic and Oil of Oregano are two natural antibiotics. Having said that, I'm not suggesting them in place of medical treatment.

I'm glad you're feeling better. I, too, am interested in how you started yourself on antibiotics. I echo what Mamapinky said. You thanked her but you didn't answer. Please be careful with self-medicating, and with not using antibiotics as intended.
